Re: Darren Barnes' FF
It has been a long time in the making but worth every minute. From the documents I have (piles of it going back to the original sales paperwork) it appears this restoration started in 1998 but stalled in 2001, then changed hands to Andy at Appleyards who continued the restoration with the aim of it being his own car. Then fortunately for me due to his work load it stalled again and I was lucky to be given the option of the car on proviso that Appleyards completed the restoration.
This has taken 3 years on and off but it is a credit to Andy and Kev (Mr Grumpy ) for their persistence in acquiring rare parts and rebuilding her to a near concourse standard, engine bay looks superb, the colour (jaguar sapphire blue) couldn't be better and you could eat your dinner from the underside, the detailing is unbelievable through out. Many Many thanks to Appleyards colour me very happy
I haven't had a chance to have a long run yet as I'm building up the miles gradually, I don't want to push my luck with the AA until I get rid of niggles but none to report as yet.
Probably in for concourse next year before you ask Richie But I intend to use the car as my daily during fine weather and visiting the area meetings, so it will be Bronze I fear.

Re: Darren Barnes' FF
Yes it was a sad day for me when the went i remember when i went to see a friend in oxford and as soon as i saw the FF i said to lorry the owner at the time i wanted to bye it but somone else had beat me to it but as time went by i kept asking if it had gone and he was getting messed about from this other guy so i said look sell it to me and iwill finnish it for myself and so he let me have it and has darren said the rest is history. but i could not have wished for it to go to nicer man and hope to drive it myself one day

Re: Darren Barnes' FF
Do you think we should use this photo of Kevin as a caption competition?
I suppose I should be careful what I say as he will be under my FF soon

Superb car, very nice.
As for Kevin I suspect some sort of swearage is being muttered or reference to who's nicked his tea.

Re: Darren Barnes' FF
Don't be nasty to Kevin, he's having a bad enough time balancing that FF on his head. You'd think Appleyards could afford more than a one-post lift...
