FF Front Wheel Bearing Crushable Spacer

Post by Mark1Stu »

Anyone got an old stock unused example they're willing to sell to help get my car back on the road?

Apparently the examples currently being produced by Martin Robey aren't fit for purpose (they are the wrong diameter and also over power the hub nut before deforming).

Thanks.

Steve J suggested a better alternative to crushable spacers in his post from a few years ago:

"Then measuring between a new pair of taper roller bearings fitted to the hub and making a tapered spacer to fit the spindle + 0.02" longer than the gap to provide a set running clearance for the bearings.
This allows the tightening of the front hub nut to clamp and retain the inner races correctly.
This also positions the brake calliper in more central position on the disc.
This is a similar method I use with FF front hubs to provide accurate bearing clearance, rather than the crushable spacer.
The result of this and a re bushed front suspension are quite amazing !"

Many thanks Dave for taking the time to post the helpful advice - it's appreciated.

Unfortunately the link sends me to an erroneous page. A glitch with the new website I suspect...but will keep trying.

Thanks again.

In advanced search i put in "bearing" with author "Stevej" to find the thread.

Its is the interceptor technical sub forum. I have just bounced it to the top (again)
