Hi
I am looking for a bit of guidance,I have bought the set off wheels mentioned in this post
(they arrived today and look very nice)
Question is what size tyre would be best to go on them.
I think the standard tyre size for a Jensen-Healey is 185-70R-13
But i have seen mention people fitting different sizes
Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Chris

Chris,
Stick to 185/70R13. You could go wider with 205/60R13 but the radius is smaller, so the ground clearance is a bit smaller as well. There are no other practical alternatives. You will have a job finding reasonable quality for a decent price. Steer clear of most Chinese tires with fancy names, avoid Vredestein, Michelin is reasonable but very expensive and probably "reproduction Michelin". There may be a few decent tyres as well like Uniroyal, Continental, Toyo, Nexen, and perhaps Hankook. I presume it is best to look at well established names but it is no guaranty.
When I got my present J-H new Nankangs were fitted by the PO. For him it was only: they are round and black!! Absolutely scary.
This is why I went for 15"x6" wheels. Plenty of choices of modern high quality rubber. I now run 205/55R15 tyres.

Hi Kees
Yes i think you are right about sticking to the right size,
I had a look on line and there are many makes available in that size.
However for tyres i prefer to deal with my local garage, he provides a service we need
he may be a bit more expensive than the online boys but he is just at the end of the road
when i need him
Thanks for the tip on the wheels they will look great on the car
Best regards
Chris
