I'm having to make the tough decision to let go of my dad's Jensen Healey. He passed away in 1999 and left the car to me. It was running in 1999 but had some issues working consistently (fuel cap was broken and the engine need some minor work). The car was garaged for nearly all of the last 18 years but unfortunately the last garage had a leak in the roof which has meant the car chassis has rusted badly. I recently got a mechanic to inspect the car and he has informed me the structural work is significant. The cost is more than I can afford and definitely more than the restored car would be worth. For that reason I'm going to have to get rid of the car despite it's sentimental value.

I'd prefer not to scrap the car and am hoping someone on here might be interested in taking it on as a project. The mechanic told me that quite a few parts of the car are salvageable so even if someone can't rebuild it - hopefully they can make use of the best parts. The interior was largely replaced in 1999 and is apparently in alright condition - just needs a clean.

I'm asking for £350 to cover the cost of the mechanic towing the car and completing the inspection. Pictures of the car below - it's currently at a garage in Taunton. If you are interested in taking the car please let me know and I will contact the mechanic? I believe he can also deliver to anywhere within 2 hours drive of Taunton for £150. Thanks, Tobin.

Outside and inside look pretty reasonable to me. I am sure it is worth a lot more than the 350 you are asking.
Put it on Ebay as a genuine "barn find" :D

I would totally agree with Dion. It's worth more than that.

Frankly, I'd buy it myself at that price.....which given Ive too many old cars, limited cash, no space and decreasing time tells you something.

Definately worth much more than £350. Looks in better condition than quite a few I've seen advertised for significantly more money.

Thanks for all the advice guys. A couple of members have asked to view the car. I'll keep you posted on what they decide to do. If I can find anyone that might be able to get the car roadworthy for close to £10k I'll happily restore it. The next best option would be to sell it to a member looking to restore it themselves.

If none of those are possible I'll let members know where they are pick up parts for their own projects. Thanks, Tobin.

Thanks for following up Will, sorry but the car is no longer available. I forgot to update this post - I found a member in Devon that is helping me restore the Jensen. I'll post some picture updates on here when I have them. Thanks, Tobin.

Good! Thanks for checking in Will and Miri.

I went to see the car in Devon last month and the mechanic has made good progress on the chassis and sills. There was a lot of stripping and welding required! Some snaps attached.

The engine has gone to be rebuilt. Thankfully a lot of the parts look like they will be usable. Next up - sandblasting and patching of the chassis. Then it will sprayed and the fun stuff can start.

I'll post some more pics soon. Thanks! Tobin.

Good for you Tobin

Great to see a car being put back on the road rather than busted up for parts.
