4 x Pirelli P4000 Tyres

Post by DaveH »

4 x Pirelli P4000 Tyres (as original specification by Jensen). 215/70 R15. 5mm tread and no damage. Will deliver within 50 miles of Reading, otherwise buyer collects.

Important to know the manufacture date before putting used tyres on your car. Ask for the DOT code, tyres over 10 years old should not be used. Some US manufacturers state that tyres, if not worn out, must be replaced after 6 years. It hasn't reached that level yet in Europe.

Thanks Chris, yes I am aware as I found out recently when to had to change some original visually perfectly continental tyres on a BMW 840ci to get through the MoT.

I'm curious what the MOT failed the previous tyres on because as far as I know there is no specific tyre age requirement on MOTs, only that they should be free from cracking or other visible signs of wear or degredation. If they were visually perfect, they should have passed even though it might be ill-advised to actually use them.

Chris,

I stand corrected. I had one where the thread depth was low and it was "recommended" that I changed the other three due to age. The BMW 840ci tyres are strange sizes . Sorry if I misled.
