No details or further pictures posted as of today but believed once registered XLZ 96 and had six pack intact then.....

Now with more pictures.

Interesting "helper" spring attached to the rear leaf springs.

The bottom hose looks like it needed modifying as it presumably has had a left-exit water pump housing fitted which doesn't quite meet the later rad as intended.

Let's not mention the roll bar which seems to upside down....

Current owner paid 81K? blimey! taking a bit of a hair cut!!. Probably needs new springs. Nice new cover on six pack. Looks similar and price to other SP on forum. Very rare to have even one SP on sale let alone two at same time. Kenny38

Nice car and color combination. Aren't the SP cars from 1972? :)

Was that hammer or provisional ?

I wonder who paid £81k in 2018 and from where ?

Possibly Cropredy or BSC ?

I missed the comments as the hammer fell but with a £55k to £65k estimate I doubt it sold and the auctioneer probably won't bother to submit the bid for consideration...but you never know what deal maybe done in the next day or so.

Really Beautiful and priced right for a very good SP. I feel an SP should be above £60,000 when it is in this level of condition.

My only hate is the wood rim steering wheel. This is an SP Grand Tourer - Not a Sports car - The normal wheels are very fitting to interior Quality.

Great to see come onto the market.

I bought this after the auction. Lots and lots of minor issues from broken door lock mechanisms to water pump leaks and missing caburettor linkages. Previously the transmission had been rebuilt, the interior was replaced, the body is (largely) solid. Its only really the rear leaf springs that is going to cost much although a new lick of paint will also be needed at some point. So far I have spent about 125 hours on it and its now starting nicely, running nicely and everything works!

Good result Steve.

A lesson to anyone buying from auction or elsewhere for that matter. Fettling even a nice example like this takes a lot of time...and unless you can do it yourself...plenty of extra money.
