Another Int 3 at Historics Auction RPN 8N 2240 9782

Looking much better after its last appearance at Anglia Auctions where despite its faults it made an incredible £73,440. I fear the vendor may be staring at a big loss this time despite the new wheels, tyres brakes air con etc....but who knows.....

"Originally registered on 17th July 1970 this Jensen Interceptor has only had one owner from new". One sentence but more than one inaccuracy I think!!!

One owner from new ?
I know the guy that bought it last year !

Hey! you cynical bastards. Good luck to this vendor. He perhaps is showing the way for us. A nice looking car and unusal for a usually last resort place to sell. Hope he surprises you. At least he is trying. Kenny38

...from the man who previously described this car as a "kindergarten painted car"...... We can all change our opinions!!!!
Whatever the financials look like , the car appears to be far better for the recent expenditure so let's hope it goes to another new "first owner" soon.

Interesting you suggest its a last resort place to sell - they've sold quite a few recently, plus Neil seemed to think they were a reputable house. Any more info?

Most auction places are just that. They are mostly honest but some times am told are told porkies by client. I say "last resort" because generally QUALITY cars are not sent there because buyers are generally after a bargain and nothing wrong with that of course. However always be aware that a nice coat of paint.....etc This car seems to be an exception and I hope he gets the money. Some tarp dwellers creeping out now to hopefully find another mug. Kenny38

Thanks Kenny
I guess it depends on the auction house (and perhaps the marque) there was an extremely nice Pagoda sold by historics for the best price ever achieved by one during lockdown, for example, and I went to two Historics auctions last year both of which had a lot of nice cars - as does this one judging from the catalogue.
I think auctions have fed forward over the last few years with increased online access, lockdowns, and good (re)presentation of cars by reputable houses.

I agree Gareth. Thye ocassional gem turns up at Auctions but our marque seems at times over represented. Anglia is a good place for auctions but are not to be expected nor can they be responsible for the cars they auction as they are bound by what vendor tells them. Very few vendors will tell the truth and that is why auction is chosen. A shite box car advertised via mags etc is liable to be viewed by hopeful buyers who are nearly always disappointed after travelling perhaps hundreds of miles. So auction is chosen and a good detail (hopefully) on the day and very limited examination time. Best expect worse than described and add at least 10K for further work. Good Luck. Buy the very best you can afford and perhaps all the hard work will have been done. Easy for me to say I suppose. I have this little scheme based in the Solomon Islands paying 25% interest if you are keen on good investments..............Kenny38

Lets all wish the seller the very best. Say its the best and a person will pay the best money.
But if purchased for more than £73,000 before I would love to know how the magic will work still. Only Interceptor III's sold by Cropredy are in this band normally. Obviously MK 1 Interceptors can reach higher amounts.
Lets watch with interest as good worthy Interceptors should by sold in this price bracket.
cheers
Neil

Re: Another Int 3 at Historics Auction RPN 8N 2240 9782
I've been driven around in this car. It has a beautiful original interior with minimal wear to the drivers seat. The panel gaps are excellent and it has had a lot of money spent on the mechanicals by the present owner - who wanted a reliable car he could drive to the full extent of its performance envelope. He assured me he would be keeping the original wheels and other original items in case a future owner wished to reverse the upgrades. So worth a discussion with the auction house.
Definitely worth a look if you're a potential buyer, I'd say.

Any further news on this "canary"? Canary because sale might just show us the way we should be going with our treasure. If bidding gets over the line perhaps everyone with a DECENT Quality car can lean back and believe Jensen prices are advancing so the committee's work is "working for us all " (Oops! did I just say that?) Thanks Kenny (earlier post)
In this case (historics) cars are available for viewing for three days leading up to the sale. They specifically talk about starting details required etc - so plenty of chance to inspect if one is serious. I suppose driving a car is a bit harder; but as they point out - I’m going to drive it 70 miles to get it there…
(Mine is available for inspection at mine for the next two days if anyone is interested - after that it’s weds to fri 13-15 at the sale)

The only trouble with auctions you never know who's there.. If two people want an interceptor they will bid themselves higher and get a high price, if not, then they will go for a low price.
As they say, it all about who's there on the day

Only working half a day now.

Yes indeed.
The other way of looking at it is that if the auction house publicises it properly (i.e. does their job!) it’s a way of establishing a value in the market for specific or individual items which are inherently difficult (or at least not easy) to value.
