No further details at the moment but low estimate suggests a project?

So this turns out to be the sorry looking LHD Canadian import 2211-1704 last sold at Brightwells auction for £9520.

"We are advised that the car is complete and was running within the past twelve months. A very rewarding project to restore a very rare left hand drive Jensen."

Is this statement true, looking back at previous sale, it doesn't say that, or am I missing something ??

They may have tried to run it and then decided to have the manifolds refaced if they were blowing? Why no one has taken the trouble to re-assemble the exhaust with the copper gaskets already in place and enhance the sales potential is open to question.

I really fancied that car the first time around. Almost wished I was the lucky winner. I noticed that the flipper has lifted the brass plaque saying hand made by Jensen from the dash. Nothing illegal but that put me off completely 2nd time. There is a little brown mark where it was.

Has the buyer been silly enough to skim the manifolds when firegum and no gasket would be more original? Have they swapped the good manifold for a cracked one, and a few other choice parts too?

Despite the above, fuel prices, special military operations etc, I would have definitely topped that bid if I was seriously after a MK3. I can only think that there were only dealers and flippers bidding.

The dash plate is INSIDE the glovebox lid so may well still be there....so still time to get your bid in John!!!

There may well have been a lack of welders and paint sprayers in the audience.....any with a couple of years of spare time and excess cash anyway! This flipper seems to have flopped big time.....

Apparently sold for £7000 after two determined buyers managed to drive the price up between them

Did it have a reserve ?

It doesn’t seem to show up on a C&C auction until it’s close to being met.

Unclear at this stage you are right. Unlikely that the vendor would settle for a £2.5k loss...but he may realise he paid too much originally.
