A late Mk2.

I think the first Mk3 was around 4241.

Might have known it would catch your attention Grant, being a Mk2!

Rather a sad story really. The restoration was 70% complete back in 2014 but sadly the customer, who was only a young fella in his 40's at the time, was struck down with a stroke that nearly killed him.

Work came to halt and the car which then languished in our storage unit until 2020 when, with no realistic prospect the poor guy would be able to fund it's completion, I decided we should complete it as a background job between other projects, then sell the car and share proceeds with the owner.

Someone is going to get a good Interceptor for a lot, lot less than in cost to buy and restore.

Great back story Alan. Well done for rescuing it. A guy on the forum "JonathanL" was trying to locate this car a few years back...it was red when he sold it and registered JMY 143K apparently. Not sure if he is still looking but I tried sending him a PM.

I've just got it! Thank you very much indeed.

I'm immensely pleased that my old Int is still around. If I weren't currently undergoing a massive house renovation I'd almost certainly have it back!

Yes the current owner managed to get back the original Reg it left the factory with. Lucky as it looks like one that would have long since been sold off as a cherished reg.

That said as the current owner's name is Jimmy, JMY 143K might have been more appropriate!

Hi Grant

Had the first motorbike outing of the year on Monday to the countryside near Hinckley to see Dave. He's rebuilding a '57 Ford Thunderbird engine for us. After an hour or two the world was officially put to rights, with no subject left un-ranted!

Wow!

If the new owner ever gets on this board it would be amazing if he saw this thread and gave me a shout. I genuinely loved that car! It would be amazing to see it again.

That’s a deal Jonathan - I am the very happy new owner of 123/4228 and look forward to getting you both together in future.
Away for a few weeks, but will drop you a line once I am back and we will sort it. Simon.
