Re: Damaged LHD Interceptor on Car & Classic
Final bid of £7750 which seems to be below the reserve but might yet sell even though previously advertised at £12.5k.
For those of you who don't recall, this is Tim Towne's old car which he managed to crash into a wall in 2014. He then swapped the nice interior with a crap one from his next rebuild. The auction comment that the crash happened 2 years ago and was the responsibility of a child is clearly wrong.
The six pack EFI was installed by BK Bridges and looked very impressive. The goodies to buy new today would probably account for $5000+ The headers have gone missing along with the O2 sensor and the collection of spares was from a scrapped car. I am not convinced that it was fitted with alloy heads either but the auctioneer can wriggle out of that error if needs be under the terms and conditions. Likewise the claims of reconditioned parts relate to over 7 years ago so they might not be quite so good anymore.

What is not to like?
Re: Damaged LHD Interceptor on Car & Classic
Wot is the best estimate to repair (replace) front end, paint and generally fix.? where is the Knowlegable Man? Don't forget brightwork and does the radiator still work? fans? I see only a very pro job here otherwise back under the tarp she goes while new (non pro restorer) owner finds another fool. Would this wreck be seen as a money maker by a restorer or should it go to the dump where the insurers thought it belonged in the first place. Kenny38

Re: Damaged LHD Interceptor on Car & Classic
Not a particularly difficult repair but probably not worth it if you had to pay someone to do it for you.
On a DIY basis (excluding your valuable time) I would budget £10k max for new panels at Robey's and everything else required including fabricating the rad support metalwork, sorting interior damage etc. I'd hope to be lucky with a few secondhand parts and look to replace the 10 year old tyres and check out the brakes ...is that hot cam giving any vacuum at idle, downhill or in slow moving traffic?
Even on a DIY basis it is marginal financially given the dislike, and potential re-sale value, of LHD cars in the UK. I am surprised the California DMV didn't issue a salvage title on this despite the owner retaining the car. That as a future Market destination when it is repaired would appear to have been closed off.
You could always sell the busted steering wheel to Grant and re-coup a fortune!
