I like it now given they have backed off from "the best in the world", and listed it as it is, defects noted. They kept the original leather too.

Would be nice to see some pictures of the underside, especially as it had advisories for corroded brake pipes that were covered over with grease, oil leak, play in steering, knocking ball joint, all when it failed it's MOT in March 2022:

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Offside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
Nearside Play in steering rack inner joint(s) ()
Oil leak, but not excessive (8.4.1 (a) (i))
Slight knock offside front top wishbone

The description does now say all new brakes and brake lines, referencing underside photos which are not there, and it did pass. I think we do really want to see those underside photos though.

The time to fix the snags does not appear to have been spent wisely...

"The vendor informs us that the heater nozzle bezels are slightly corroded and discoloured, as are the interior lights which also have broken lenses. Also, the heater temperature controls do not currently function." So no air con and no heater controls...that should limits its use to about 10 days every year in the UK?

It will be interesting to see what they do to the car on the programme, some new brake pads, a wheel refurbish and some new paint dont make a renovation. My guess is they realised what they were letting them selves in for once they had a look and did a similar job to the Wheeler Dealer team.

They went way over budget on the body restoration. My guess was the rest was then skimped.

A Jensen specialist would not finish the bonnet prop bracket like this. Wrong screws, bracket on the wrong way around and a length of rubber pipe instead of the correct grommet. Not to mention no sound insulation under the bonnet. How long will that paint last in the heat? Shoddy work IMHO.

Im not quite sure what is fiercely complicated about the A/C but it seems more than the condenser is missing.
Also not sure why the insulation and heatshield has not been refitted to the bulkhead and underside of the bonnet apart from it saved around a weeks work.

They weren't joking about the interior lights! £15 from any MG Dealer and would make a difference.

...and don't worry about using the correct bonnet rubber...the bonnet probably won't shut properly if you use the right type..

Any suggestions as to what the stray bolt does for the operation of the kick-down mechanism? With only 23 miles on the clock since the MOT failure, has anybody noticed whether it all works as it should I wonder?......Hmmmm!

Yes that nut on there is really bad. Never seen anything like that. The really good thing is, they didn't re-trim it or rebuild the engine. Hopefully they got a decent trans shop to do the rebuild on the 727. Hopefully not a $100 rebuild kit fitted by the apprentice's mate.

What really got me when I saw that photo was the cuboid wonder which seems to be fastened down with Inbus Schrauben! Never seen anything like that before.

For a few hundred pounds, why wouldn't you refresh the rings and bearings whilst you were "inspecting" the engine?

Because they are obviously not very good Peter. How are they going to get the pistons out? A lot of things could go wrong. Buying the wrong rings, getting the gaps wrong, snapping them on install, damaging the mains putting it back together. All these problems we see numerous times after "expert" refurbishments and rebuilds. Stick a new timing seal on, paint the cover, and call it a day. I am happier with Brett's engine at 200k+ if it has good compression rather than a refurbishement.
