Int on ebay - SP?

Interesting modifications over the years, 3 rad fans, sheepskin inserts, deep trans pan, shield around the brake reservoirs, multiple tailpipes, double spaced grill, graphic equaliser (!) interior veneers etc. Late registered if it is an SP

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
It certainly appears to be an SP with the 6-pack, blue wheel centres and rear badge as well as the louvred bonnet.
If this is in it's original colour of red, with beige interior and the fact it was first UK registered in May 1974, it might be 2240/9592 which left the factory on 25th March 1974.
If it's had a colour change, it could be one of a number of UK SP's from early 1974, possibly having been Brienze Blue or Copper brown etc. in the past..

How do you reach the conclusion it's not an SP?

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
Well - I was actually interested so spoke to the vendor and it is an Interceptor with SP badges and an SP Carb setup and SP bonnet.
But more importantly I am still interested if this is was effectively built from a crashed SP so if the Engine and gearbox are SP then it is effectively an Interceptor SP to me.
But in answer to your question, the last SP left the factory in October 1973 and this was registered with DVLC in May 1974.
I would be very interested if more information comes to light from this forum
cheers
Neil

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
Well done Neil for obtaining the clarification. I doubt personally that it makes this project worth £20k but stranger things have happened.
Re: Int on ebay - SP?
Vendor is being straight. I know him and he spoke to me about it last week believing it was an SP but gave me the chassis number 2240/9628 which is an interceptor MK 3 that left the factory in Brienz blue with black roof and beige interior on 19.4.74.
He did not know the engine/box details so it could be a SP drive train or a six pack and manifold on a standard engine.
One thing is for certain, if it has the right bits it could be a nice car, but it will never be a SP.

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
Information on another site suggests that this was for sale along with other cars for an unspecified price in Stanmore NW London until a week ago but the vendor now states the car is located in Wolverhampton...and he has another "barn find" and other parts for sale on ebay located in Shropshire. The last V5 for the Jensen was issued in 2014...described in the ad as "up to date".

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
I need to go to Specsavers!
I somehow looked at the Jensen Genome and found a picture of the SP, then looked at the pages AFTER that picture.
The details for the SP were on the preceding pages...

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
Chatted to vendor again and the engine is the normal MKIII engine and not unfortunately an SP Engine. It is a matching numbers car and a very nice car too. but for some reason the owner loved SP badges and the SP carb set.
Should be an really interesting purchase. All seems to be an honest sale.

Re: Int on ebay - SP?
The bonnet isn’t your standard SP bonnet, as it has staggered louvres at the front end, whereas the original SP bonnet had the same amount of lovers in each row.
