Interceptor Coupe' 2710/1965 coming up for sale

Post by interjen »

A nice Interceptor Coupe' that we have decided to sell as we really don't use her. She has been in our collection since 2010 during which time she has been improved. We have some history of her which would apparently back up her very low mileage of 13,000.
I will post more details in due course but in the meantime wanted to see what interest there was before sending her to Bonhams.
Simon.

Hello... What is the asking price? What is the story in regard to quality of paint and rust underneath?

Thank you,

Many thanks for your interest jensen4. To answer your question, and to give more background into her extremely low mileage.. i bought her in 2010, she was and is in remarkable condition, there is no rust to speak of at all anywhere having been fully restored prior to my purchase. I wondered why such a low mileage car was completely rust free at the front and i think ive uncovered why. She was delivered new to South Carolina in 1976, where she remained until she was brought back to the uk in 1981. I was the first person to register her for the uk in 2019 meaning she was only on the road for a maximum of 5 years. My belief is she was significantly damaged sometime between 1976 and 1981 which would account for the ultra low mileage, this would answer why none of the front end panels had been drilled for marker lights or badges and why she is fitted with a full louvred bonnet. In my ownership I have further improved her, all her chrome has been redone, she still sports all her federal spec bumpers, her interior has been redone using her original leather with new sheepskin inserts supplied nos by Jason, further works required are mechanical. She basically needs a day or two with a specialist to set her up properly, i still use her from time to time, we took her to Dartmouth park in 2019 which was a 250 mile round trip without issues. We have a Convertible, amongst others and just don't use her as she deserves, she needs to be an only child! Regarding price, she is agreed value at £75,000, I'm looking for the best offer over £50,000. I'm not in a hurry to sell. I have been in contact with our guru Richard Calver about this and he does have some information on her though i forget where we got too.
Regards Simon.

One of the last cars to leave JML before it closed.

Bid to £24,100. Very disappointing result for Simon and from this auction in general with many lots not reaching reserve. Post auction deals can still be done however......End of season slump?

Coupes and Convertible Interceptors just don't seem to hit the spot for a lot of punters....
