E series engine or G series engine, I've no idea if it makes a difference but all Mk2's after car 123/4080 (end March 1971) had G series engines.

I might be tempted to sell my "E series" Mk2, as I've rarely used it in the last 18 months.Barry55 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:54 pm Hi John
Yes I decided to pass on this one. Having decided to buy my first interceptor I was really grateful to Stu for taking the time to speak to me and giving me some pointers given I am not mechanically minded and not familiar with the nuances of the marque. As a result I am going to take my time and wait for the right car to come up as I want it as a long term keep. Sometimes the hardest thing is to keep patient when everything that comes up appears at face value so enticing. I also feel a tad sorry for this owner but even a simple review of this forum would have provided more providence in the description actually presented for the car.
If you or anybody hears of a nice Mk2 with the E series engine or Mk3 with a solid loved ownership let me know(see i was listening Stuart!. )
I've just driven it back from Appleyards this morning; it having had a full service and fresh mot this week.
Although a Mk2, it has some Mk3 features.
On the drive this morning!....

Re: Int 2 at Mathewsons auction 10th July
Hi
I'm a new member like Barry on the lookout for a nice car and been keeping an eye on this thread
I've been to seen it today
The issue for me is that the only paperwork they have is the V5
It looks to have had money spent on it
Just wondering if anyone within the Club has any information on the Car?
Either pm or posted reply will be very welcome
Many thanks

Hi Tony, Welcome to the club! It is a great time to buy a Jensen. Now people are going back to work, they realise they can't afford the time for that classic car! Martin Robey will have a chassis file for the car containing factory build data. You can ring them with the chassis number, and ask them to prepare a photocopy the chassis file for collection in person or post. That and DVLA ownership records will be your first port of call if you buy it!
Seeing the car, the quality of the interior and chrome, the paint, panel fit, rot around the edges: wheel arches and front valances, door bottoms, and most difficult, the sills. Oil leaks from the engine, transmission and diffs, how clean is it underneath, how many patches. Those are the main bits. "Money spent" is a meaningless indicator really, and is often a negative unless done perfectly. You could buy a copy of the chassis file, read it, and then go and have another look ready to strike a deal!
I can't see you losing a lot on this if you maintain your own classics, as it is not that expensive, and education costs money.

Hi Tony
I am totally non mechanical and had a look at it pre auction with a mechanic. I was also armed with Stuarts Interceptor buying guide just published in the first edition of: classic.retro.modern.com magazine. It has some great detail which really helped me make my mind up. Would suggest you get a copy and bounce your thoughts off the guys on the forum who are helpful and knowledgeable. Good luck; I am still looking and it seems like a good time to buy, prices seem to be flattening
