Reserve lowered by seller.

Now @ £42,500 with less than an hour to run.

Will be intersted in how much it makes & if it reaches the reserve of course.

Thanks John for the update. Did anyone see what it was bid up to in the end? It was still at £42.5k 20 mins before the end.

Thanks John. I should use refresh. It looks so nice. I am not bidding as piggy is empty. I do hope it gets sold and used in London. I did imagine driving that home, no forgetting to pay crazy emissions tax and getting a £200 fine as it is a Historic Vehicle! I like to think I am a saint in my 1999 100mpg city car, which was ironically eligible as a clunker for scrapage, but nothing as economical was available new at the time :D. It really needs scrapping now as I will need to pay £12 a day to take it off a drive in London from October 2021! The joke is if I bought that I could really be "The Saint". Would be so cool to see that car used in future film roles.

Looks like it didn't make the reserve so has moved across to "buy it now" for £47k which, with commission, means it could be yours for just under £50k.

Judging by some dealer ads I have noted this car would be a bargain at 50K. Why so low...obviously not a lot of interest I suppose. With the history/condition should be around 70-80K. Is the Jensen market a bit flat? Kenny38

Maybe not the most mainstream of auction sites...so maybe lacking exposure? A very enthusiastic owner and high profile magazine coverage but, let's face it, not the most successful of TV series and it was over 30 years ago....and so who even remembers The Saint that wasn't Roger Moore?

The history on the website seemed to lack evidence of continued care between winning some silverware in the 1990's and some major bodywork and servicing work relatively recently. It wasn't actually owned by anyone famous...just used in the series....what value can you place on that and does anyone really know/care these days? A James Bond DB5 this isn't!

It does remain a nice example however and I hope it finds a new owner soon at the right price. I would certainly covet this one over the £73k gold coloured example at Anglia Auctions a few months ago.

I think it is a good auction site, that has become one of the best of the newer ones, by not being too greedy, and providing a much better describing ability through loads of photos. It is getting good volume of good cars. We can only assume that is the market price for the car taking into account Peter's comments about it's history. Online auctions don't have the benefit of a captive buying audience due to lockdown anymore, that might be "worth" 10% or so overall.

Hi all,
For those interested in the Saint cars (I am lucky to have both a Volvo 1800S and a Interceptor version) I have reproduced three pages from an article by Kevin Price (who owns one of the cars used in the original series) from the latest Volvo Enthusiasts Magazine on the "Saint Cars".

I totally believe it is a very good investment for £50,000 It is worth much more but not good time to sell. With it's Saint history, long term ownership and a very good history of care it is an excellent purchase.

I agree with the comments made that a true value is closer to £70,000 but unfortunate times in the UK and Globally are surpressed values and also trust in a Jensen being an investment.

I would love it but my garage is full already

I wish the seller good luck with the £50,000 auction aim and if you know someone with a dream of a Jensen; this is definitely a good one

cheers

For me, the MOT history adds perspective. Ditto the interior pictures of the doors open showing the A posts.
