Chassis no. 59/5633 1956 car , not 60's as advert states !!
Original owner was W Parton.
Looks like the car has most of the original chrome which is a plus.Wonder if the seat shells are with the car?
Heater blower on front outside of bulkhead, not as per the earlier cars. This might have been a factory or previous owner addition as the later heater was fitted after chassis 149/5803.

It does say no interior. It is a bit pricey already when the pristine looking BMW engined 541 sold for £28k. It does have a proper engine, they say it runs, the interior in the other was not to everyones taste. Can't have everything. That gorgeous bonnet chrome ware! We assume no seats, but then they teasingly leave a few bolts lying on the floorpan, it is almost like the seller is doing this on purpose. They are right about love money and time being needed. Will be a great car if it gets that.

From memory, the supply of original 541 bonnets ran out in the 1960s and only the 541R type was available. Presumably this car needed a bonnet and got what was available at the time. Since then, new 541 bonnets have been made so a further substitution could be made, or the old replacement could remain as part of the car's history.

There is a posibility that the bonnet mould for the 541 was modified into the 541R shape to save costs. When the 541 stock of bonnets was exhausted then only the R type were available. I seem to remember that both types were made during the 80's by Liz Wright in Essex and I think that the section of the top side was moulded from a 541 bonnet, so that it could be inserted into a partly produced 541R bonnet. Tony Wilde might be able to verify this. A 541R bonnet on a 541 is not a rarity and in my mind does nothing to detract from the early ones. With the two bulges, it is probably much stronger than the earlier one but they do suffer cracking around the small air vent near the front top side.

The owner seems pleasant and helpful; his father owned it for 35-40 years. Parts with it include the other half of the rear bumper and the finned brake drums.
