Another one here in need of saving? Saw this a few days ago and wondered if there’s a history to it?

CV8 Mk 1 spotted on eBay
Re: CV8 Mk 1 spotted on eBay
According to the plate (278 KBM) that would be 104/2034, according to Calver's Chassis Book. Originally Deep Carriage Green with Green interior. Ex factory 24.5.63. Engine Nr 036/4. Broken (scrapped) in 1978 according to Calver (maybe updated in the Genome?).

The Genome says Off 2016.
The history I have probably explains why Richard thought it was broken. First of all, it is 2034, no doubt about that, the chassis number is still on the front cross member and on the data plate on the engine bay bulkhead and even written on the underside of the seat bases, however it doesn't have its original engine. The two previous owners are noted in the C-V8 Register as Phil Dudley and then Medway Interceptors, Phil Dudley is noted as breaking other C-V8s and Medway Interceptors did the same. I think one of them started dismantling the car and very probably sold the engine, but the current owner then bought the car from Medway Interceptors, or, I think, bought it off a friend who bought if off Medway Interceptors. I know the friend already owned a Mk1 CV8 and probably decided to save this one before more parts from it were sold off, and as the current engine is from another C-V8 I think the friend bought the car and enough bits to put it back together. All of this probably happened a long time ago, 1970s or 1980s, and not a lot has happened to the car since except work to stop the rust, as the floor pans have holes in them but the metal has been painted so they aren't getting worse. The reference in the ad to the car being part of a collection is puzzling, unless you know the friend who bought it off Medway would then have owned two Mk1s, I suppose that's a collection.

Interesting history - many thanks for that. It sold on eBay for £7900 but sounds like there’s a decent amount of work to do!

Congratulations to the new owner! That interior looks very restorable. Hopefully it will be preserved!
