1969 Mk1 FF-R supercharged

Post by Eddie »

I don’t think this is for those with short arms and long pockets.

Looks fantastic in my opinion, boasting an 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds :D

It looks well executed although the front number plate looks odd and at an angle. I guess I'm nit picking though...

A hell of a lot of technical work and money has gone into that car for sure. Im sure it's an awesome drive. Would I like to own and drive it? Hell, yes.

Having studied the pictures my attention was drawn to the sales blurb...

'It quickly becomes clear on a close study of the coachwork, panel fit and detail trim that the R is finished to a far superior level than the original car. This continues to the interior...'

Panel fit superior? Look at the gaps of the door which is hanging down as well!!!!!
Very nice interior though.

Stu is suggesting the blurb is talking a load of...

They say the R is the only one that still delivers on the dream. I am sure it is nice but the original delivers as far as I am concerned. For all practical purposes I used 053 as a daily driver for something like five years, year round. By choice. It delivered.

The panel fit on my Colin Holley restored FF was far, far better than that thing.

I agreed a price with Colin for work on my FF. I went to pick it up with the agreed amount. The car looked better than anyone could expect, and I seriously, seriously though I was somehow going to be asked for a lot more money, but no. I paid the amount we agreed and drove off in it on top of the world.

Very nice interior though.
The leather on the door cards is puckering up in places. Never seen that on an original Jensen door card to this day.

The engine would need to be a lot lighter than the alloy Keith Black motor in the FFF100 as well to make for the weight saving of the FFF100 fibreglass shell, as the acceleration quoted is a tad sharper than the FFF100, despite being 80+ BHP down, and having narrower tyres.

I wonder how this new car would stack up, against an FF with its original block and transmission, against one of the FF SP's with an 8 litre stroker kit from someone like Eagle? Or could keep the motor totally standard externally as well and make a real tyre smoking sleeper. I guess those stroker kits would work in KB blocks as well??? :D FFF100 with stroker kit anyone???

Dave Perkins is still selling FF chassis tubes new for £800. This could also have been done to a rotted out Mk3 Interceptor (LHD even). Weld an Interceptor rear end to the tubes, you can then cut the floor about as you want, and not have to put up with the narrower legroom on the drivers side of the FF. The whole modern engine subframe unit could be grafted on, or you could fabricate chassis legs, and use an old FF frame.

Now sold, I think it was quoted at around £350k from memory.

Would be nice to see it in the metal one day.
