Re: Rare FF Mk3 going to auction
Looks like the tailgate has been replaced on the light blue one at Cropredy.
MK 3 interceptor 128/4548 E-series.
Re: Rare FF Mk3 going to auction
Maybe let’s get back to the subject and leave the Cropredy car for another thread.
Here’s six additional photos from the auction house.
Mileage is around 83,500.

I assume the dash has to come apart on a Mk III like it has for the Mk I but big $$? Putting the job to e. g. Rejen they will do it efficiently and well and consideting the value of the car not so bad. AC adds to the equation but still.....
On my Mk I the matrix could come out in half a day, and go back in two days worst case. Could do it in half the time if fingers were twice as long and with an extra joint

Famous last words
Yep sounds like my start on my Mk I all those years ago. Strange how it tends toward a BIG project once you start fixing that small issue.

Re: Rare FF Mk3 going to auction
Ref the buyers fee, it’s actually about 27% if you bid online or I think 20% plus VAT over the phone, no bidding in person allowed. Potburys is a general antique bric a brac type auction house and not a High(er) value classic car auctioneer, hence the large fees. I’ve known about this FF for years having grown up about 5 miles way, and had heard through local gossip that this was coming to auction about a year ago, I had similar photos to those that John posted sent from a friend of a friend who picked the car up.
A few enquiries to the auction house Last year and a few weeks ago, suggests it hasn’t run for many years, but in general looks good. Viewings may be possible the chap suggests, the guide is £60-80k.
The colour looks very similar to my mk2 FF, I was half tempted as it looks presentable in the pics, might need the usuals - when you get in to it but what a fun way to spend your hard-earned! I‘ve (sort of) come to my senses and put my sensible head on though (!)
Good luck

Re: Rare FF Mk3 going to auction
I have arranged with Potburys to have a look at 130/316 this Friday at 9am.
As I had 3 separate requests via PM to view I will add all photos and hopefully a video on the forum.
Hopefully they will be able to have serious bidders on site. As it's not a huge room it maybe limited
to 15/20!
I'll report back on Friday.

Re: Rare FF Mk3 going to auction
Today I viewed 130/316 in it's secure container.
I was able to get to three sides of the car with the nearside very close to the side
I have to admit I was surprised by the overall condition on a car stored for 25 years.
The car has had a respray in the past and is now a metallic blue which I found hard to photograph and clearly show,
There is no sign of any rust on the arches , valances and door bottoms.
Underneath everything was well undersealed with the tube I could get to solid.
The boot area showed no sign of any rot and under the carpet the floor was good.
Jack bag and brace were present , no tool roll or jack.
Inside the leather showed no tears or rips , both front seats need an overhaul. 8 Track present.
Front carpets were well worn , floors underneath soild.
Fire extinguisher under drivers seat.
Bodywork is good with just the usual small cracks where the bonnet meets the front panel.
Both bumpers have rust but not serious.
Chrome to the rest of the car is good , with only the windscreen having pitting.
Engine bay looks very original. Odd bit of hose from PCV, Everything present including the Maxaret which for
some reason always seems to go missing!
No cracking to manifolds , oil present to gearbox.
Corrosion is visible to brake lines near pots and also around the thermostat.
Owners handbook and service books are present plus workshop manual
My only concern was the signs that the heater matrix may have let go hence the streaks visible on the
passenger foot vent.
I would urge anyone who is serious to have a close look at the photos below nad see the car yourself.
I have suggested to Potburys to get a mechanic in and trying turning the engine manually.
Regards
