Hi Eddie,

We were the ones who did all the modifications at this C-V8 like lowering it, brake upgrade, headlamp covers, etc. etc.and performed also lots of technical work at the car.

Great looking car. I particularly like the headlamp covers.
They're a great addition.
But losing the front bumper would make it look even better again.

Can't understand why you'd cover the headlights like this as this is where the fresh air comes from, there's a gap under the lamps, cover the headlights = no fresh air .. unless it's taken from somewhere else.

I "think" it was a chap named Neale that originally designed those headlight covers, and he was pretty clever, I believe.

So then Keith the design was such that you got airflow under the lights, if you cover the lights how do you get the airflow in. I don't think the lights were covered in the first instance was they, I know you know these things so please correct me if im wrong

The original design did indeed have the headlight covers. As a result of bad press for the similar covers on the recently introduced E-type (crazing, steaming up), the Jensen brothers decided to delete them at the last minute, too late to allow any tooling changes, much to my Dad’s disappointment. The changes to the headlight treatment of the Mark III were an attempt to tidy things up without major engineering changes. Sorry, but I can’t bring any light to the airflow question.

The CV8 MkIII has footwell vents fed from the inner wings via the headlight apertures when the vehicle is moving, this air also flows through the bulkhead and out through two vents in the transmission tunnel behind the gearbox bellhousing. I am not sure if the MkI & II have this feature as the MkIII was redesigned in the screen and scuttle area.

The air intake is is only at MK3 between the lights. MK1 and 2 had it next to the indicator.

Do the MkI & II have the air flow through the bulkhead over the gearbox?

No, airflow is similar to MK3 but the air intake is on the side of the front indicator / there is a little chrom fairing visible.
