Looks like it never had AC installed at the factory. I thought all MKIII's had AC. I guess we live and learn!

Its got air con switch on the lower dash panel. In the engine bay it looks like the remains of the Ranco valves on the passenger side. Interesting rocker box covers.

Looking at the engine bay close up I see the bracket from the receiver dryer mounting but what is missing is the connections from the evaporator at the firewall. Could they have taken the time to remove the housing from the dash and taken it out?

Air con became standard on UK cars during the life of the MK3.
I believe all cars had the switch on the dashboard whether air con was fitted or not.
