Looks like a very nice example, albeit wearing MK3 wheels.

Martin. I assume you are in Aus at the moment,if not you must get a little more sleep ! Wheels...The Rubery-Owen 'Rostyle' were everywhere, from Marina/Cortina and so on. I think the Mk 111 wheel being purely Jensen looks fine. IF this FF sells,it will put down a marker as to present values in what I see as a weak marketplace, compared to 24 months ago. £60K + would be a good bid.

The last FF at auction a few weeks ago went for 43 k plus commission. It was in need of full restoration, it is detailed on this web site . That was a big price for a car needing all the money spending and was big shock.

I cannot see anyone getting this, seemingly nice car (the money as we know is in the bodywork and you need to know what work was done) for £60k if it is as described and restorative work was done well. Closer to 100k with commission I would think but proper close inspection needed. From the photos there are a few things that would make me want to check what has been done to the bodywork like the front chromed bumpers and how they are fitted.

From my experience classic car market is selective not weak. Tarted up overpriced rubbish is not selling at previous prices for sure.

Surprised no one knows this car, the colour should make it pretty well recognised.

Montp. I totally agree with your comments, and having been at many auctions,....it just needs two people, that's all. We will see on 3rd March...just a comment,if the 45 - 60 year old classic car buyer with 50 - 100K in his pocket, well.the world is his lobster, and some amazing choices to be had. Very specialised, low production vehicles may not come up on most peoples radar, compared to well known marques that they have grown up with, and maybe convertibles to boot. !

Very true, a lot of choice in that segment, and people fancy a name ! Have to say if I was to only have one classic at that level, much as I adore it, it would not be an FF. I am lucky it is one of a few so holds it's place. I have been amazed how it tends to be females who really love the FF .

Having taken an FF apart, and having seen the hidden areas of rust, very deep in the structure, you can either have a car like mine where you spend an arm and a leg and know it is good ( and do it for the love not money for sure) , or take a well cared for car and hope someone used the ziebart and underseal back in period. I always worry when seemingly smart cars come up, and you can do a lot to make them look good, but you never know what is lurking underneath without a really deep inspection. I guess that is why the restoration project went for that money, it is clear it will be stripped to its underpants, and rebuilt, maybe better that than spending 60 or 70 more and finding you still need to take it apart again. Buyer beware I guess as ever. I have also seen some shocking work on cars supposedly restored, and some by well know garages.

Be interesting to see what this FF goes for

Having gone a similar route as you with "Toby" i will inherit a car which i know to be sorted and can own with confidence having been there at its birth through to maturity, if i have any regrets it is only that i did not source an FF as the costs are almost identical but the residuals are worlds apart

Isn't this one missing headlight surrounds?

And what's that thing hanging down by the right front wheel?

I had a spin around the block in this car in May 2016 when it was last for sale but that was the last I heard of it. It has had some work done since from the photos including paint, chrome, engine bay detailing and perhaps more.

Peter R,Montp,Toby,MartinK. Just wondered if any of you are going to Epsom tomorrow (Sat) . I have looked through the sale list....there are some great value cars in there. As far as Lot 250 is concerned,if you pick this up before mid-day Sat,what do you think the hammer will be ? I see that Lot 249 is a similar vintage B/Conti convertible est.60 -70K. ummmm..now that's my kind of car !

If you have a read of Ulrik,s 320 short stories on the Jensen FF you will see what a ground breaking top of the line car it was back in the day, The prices of late are at last starting to reflect this , all things being equal this in average condition should be a 100k car,,.
