Simon, Indeed the grille is not original, and the car should have the bumper with overriders. This front bumper looks to be an earlier 541 (not R) bumper as fitted on mine here.

OK here are the pictures of the car going for auction tomorrow with an indicated price of £20-25 000, but there was at least one interested party there today.

Looking at the paper work the plate may have been changed from original as it may have been transferred to another vehicle and Oxfordshire licencing put it on a current plate at the time. Looks like ownership was London, Oxon and then Bristol / Somerset. It needs work mechanically including wiring and external / internal body work - not a jump in and go car.

What was the purpose of the carbuncle on the HT lead ?
The prices of parts on some of the bills were amusing. All useful information and photos.
Exhaust pipes look to be perilously low in one of the photos. These will be ripped off the next time it goes on a trailer unless great care is taken.

Well John Pym and myself have assumed it is some sort of suppressor for the radio as the word "suppressor" was on it, but other than that don't know....it would need to be re-wired anyway.

The pipes were OK but with a damamged hip it was a little quick in taking the underneath photos, they appeared to be OK in the flesh so to speak.

Sold for £31000 plus buyers premium - bought by a bidder at the auction and no internet bids at all which is unusual.
