CV8 on eBay

Post by Dion »

The chassis seems ok just surface rust as it was parked in damp barn

I don't think it would be "just surface rust" - 42 years parked in a damp barn

Bid up to nearly £12K with a day to go, that's a rather mad price for a totally rotten C-V8, but maybe we have to get used to mad prices!

Any good good rebuild cost the same. 12.000 for a MK1 is not too much and CV8’s are the best Jensen money can buy.

Another 10 cent 8)

I am pretty sure it will not go below 15 grand.

Cars like this sold for 3 grand five years ago but these times are over. As Jörg wrote - the C-V8 is the best car Jensen ever build.

Chassis Data Book: "Sold to the Managing Director of one of the companies in the NORCROS Group". Originally Sun Bronze. Ex factory more or less in sequence, but possibly it was registered and used as a demonstrator (see page vii)?

The first owner was G S Clark of Fisher Clark & Co. Ltd., part of the Norcros Group. In correspondence in the service file Mr Clark signs himself Stewart Clark and as he gives his home address on some correspondence it wasn't difficult to find that the G was for George, George Stewart Clark, 1905 - 1980, he was Managing Director. Did he go on to become MD of Norcros? If so that is a snippet of info I haven't found. The car was never a demonstrator but was sold directly to G S Clark, presumably JML undertook to license it and that would account for the EA registration.

Fun fact: Norcros comes from Normanby and Crosby, two villages in Lincolnshire which were on the family estate of John Sheffield, the chairman of Norcros.

£12,000 now, with 40 minutes to go!

Regards

Thank you, John! If JML undertook the registration, it would be a EA number- other cars would be registered by the dealers once they were sold?

12 grand

And a bargain at that price. A great restoration project with most of the stuff being there. There's a very limited number of C-V8s left so if this gets brought back to its former glory, then that was £12K well spent. Wouldn't it look amazing in the original Sun Bronze!

It's back on ebay again as an auction, starting price at £3,000 with no reserve and £6,000 asked for an immediate sale. Same picture, different seller information.
