Seller is Noah Burton who used to have a C-V8, I didn't know he had a 541 as well.

Re: 541R For Sale
Now this is interesting. In 2008, a dealer called "Bob's Affordable Classics" reported that a vehicle had been stolen from it, namely a 1959 Jensen 541R with "deep metallic blue with a nicely patinated red leather interior". The numberplate was NOA 45, which was not included in the sale but I was at the time informed that this was the number of the missing car, which has never been publicly reported as found.
This is the car: The car on eBay was originally WUL 197, and was purchased by the present owner in 2008 (from a well known 541 collector), as shown in the eBay paperwork. It is obviously not the same car as above - solid wheels, interior colour grey etc. I can understand that the NOA 45 plate would be a good swap onto it if the owner's name was Noah, and I can only presume that the swap of plates between the two cars took place before the theft. I am not saying that there has been anything dubious going on, but it might be worth any prospective owner making sure the paperwork was crystal clear before bidding.

4319 - Blue with grey interior. You can just make out the WUL 197 registration partly obscured on an envelope in one picture. Interestingly, it has a "DS7" style cast rocker cover, but the engine is DS5. A factory fitment?

Chassis is 358/4319. Dave T will update I am sure, but the last I had on record was when it was sold in 2006 by the then owner in Dorset.

Re: 541R For Sale
Listings like that one make me laugh. Seems that for £35k (reserve not met) the seller can't come up with a more imaginative title than "jensen", even though the title is what everyone searches Ebay by (and what Ebay saved searches trigger on). I notice that one of his previous listing titles was for "caravan".
It's also amusing to see the bidding on the first listing, with one person repeatedly placing bids against himself, around 30 seconds apart...

Re: 541R For Sale
No, he's not bidding against himself, well not exactly, what he's doing is entering a new high bid that is higher than his previous high bid in an attempt to find the reserve price. The opening price was £35k and the bidder has bid that £35k. Then he's entered another bid, say £37.5k which is not as high as the reserve and so the bidding stays at the opening price of £35k. He's then repeated that with higher numbers but none reached the reserve and so the price stayed unchanged.mojo wrote: It's also amusing to see the bidding on the first listing, with one person repeatedly placing bids against himself, around 30 seconds apart...

Re: 541R For Sale
Thanks - yes, I understand how Ebay works. What I can't understand is the mindset that would cause someone to do that once and then immediately re-bid three times with a 30 second gap between each bid. Typically people would want to think a bit more than that between bids, but who knows....

Probably didn't want to go over the reserve price.
