C-V8 Mk111 for complete restoration

Post by John Staddon »

I have been asked to advertise the following car on behalf of its owner:

C-V8 Mk111 Chassis number 112/2421. Original reg MBF 617D but now on NAB 661D (a previous owner put a private plate on the car but must have retained it when the car was sold). The current owner bought the car around 1980 and ran it until around 1983 when it was taken off the road with a blown core plug, it was stored indoors at first but has spent the last 20 years outdoors under a cover, the chassis is rotten but the car is more or less all there, the photos below tell the story. This car will need a full body off restoration I think but if that is what's required you might as well start with a rotten car and not a car that looks superficially OK but is rotten underneath, this one is a case of WYSIWYG! The owner wanted to restore the car but he is now too old to do it himself, however he does not want to break it and is looking for someone to take on a restoration. Price is around £10,000 but offers considered. Telephone Ken Clancy on 07481 454433. The car is in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.

The front of the car has been raised on axle stands, or just bricks, hence the nose up stance. The car is registered with the DVLA (MOT due 1983!).

Bumpers are gone? I have never seen a front bumper part like the one shown in the fifth picture

It's a standard front bumper corner piece, what's left of it :(

As for the price, it is little ambitious, but only one C-V8 in any condition has sold for less than £10,000 in the last four years, as far as I know, and that includes a number of restoration projects. The owner is open to offers however.

I know that it's the standard piece but I've never seen one in that condition (Sorry, I should have been a bit more precise).

Do you have any pictures of the chassis or is it in the same state as the front bumper? Can it be collected in one piece or will it fall apart?

Hi Jens

No, I have posted all of the photos I was sent, I know there are no floors, and as you can see a door is falling off but the seller says the chassis tubes are solid. The seller did say he was going to move the car completely on to the concrete road and if he manages that I guess it will show that the car is movable (though he might use a fork lift...). I will ask.

Regards

John

The seller is going to try and move the car in the next couple of days, I'll post more info when I have it.

A quick update. The owner, Ken Clancy, is not well and hasn't been able to move the car yet.
