Perhaps Albert Hammond was right when he wrote "it never rains in southern California "

At least the owner of this Jensen must have believed him as his windscreen wipers are obviously not required.

almost looks as if its been pouring salt water under the bonnet though :o

This looks very much like my mate Jonathan's car.

He bought it about 2 years ago and did a bit of work on it, it used to belong to some drug dealer, and was sold off in a police auction when the dealer was arrested and gaoled.

It didn't have the window-screen wipers when he bought it either.

I wonder why he's selling it, I'll have to ask.

Hmm...why do you think, this is cheap?

This car would cost appr. 45 kEUR with transport and all EU taxes paid properly. On the this year Techno Classica (which is probably worst place to buy classic car), one LHD Interceptor III Conv. was offered in much better condition at the 35 kEUR?

This car would be a bargain here at the current exchange rate. Of course taxes and transport add to cost if you are importing but comparing apples etc. US$35k only equates to 25.5k euro at todays rates.

35k USD = 27k EUR

Then you have pay agent comission fee, shipping costs from seller to the port, loading and storage fee, shipping over the pond, insurance fee, appr. 20% VAT on all costs incl. transportation (different by country), EU-taxes (10% flat), registration fee, and when probably, discover, that US "excellent" means "fair" in England, and "daily driver" easily might be "donor or brave restoration project"

And not only all that above, but you'd also have to buy the wipers and the wiper motor because it doesn't have one either.

EU import duty is zero % on historic vehicles and flat rate of 5% VAT only (is calculated on total cost as landed in EU so includes shipping costs insurance etc.). These are EU governed rates that apply to all EU countries for an import from anywhere outside the EU to anywhere inside the EU.

Chris, thats interesting, because, in Estonia, which is EU member no any tax exempt either on VAT and import duty for the historic vehicles, same with EU duty.

Sorry Denis I was quoting local (Westpac) bank rate. Banks up your way must be even greedier than the ones downunder !
Also I was comparing the asking price in the USA to what you would expect to pay for a similar car in NZ.

I'm sure If I advertised my car at a bargain price for sale in NZ it wouldn't be worth importing into the US either.

Perhaps I should have said it looked like a bargain for a US buyer
