I remember this area well, as a child we(my parents) used to rent the old pub in ringmore called the rising sun for a week or two each summer, top of the lane from the worlds end pub. The cottage/pub is private now and no longer sees the rising sun as they built a bungalow that blocks it!
Would visit Burgh Island every year and get the tractor back when the tide came in. Modbury hill sticks in my mind as the fire station was at the bottom, unfortunately the fire engine couldnt drive up the hill as it lacked the power to do so (1964 engine) it was on the news when finally it was replaced with a more capable unit.

Burgh island is my "bribe" to allow the Jensen, one of its first trips will be for a weekend away.
