If this is what you are looking at:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=016
Bare in mind that if mechanics are good and cost you nothing, the body could cost you 3 to 8k to bring back to a reasonable standard.
If its fairly solid (if) 2 to 3k is acceptable, how badly do you want it?
As 7 to 10k will get you a nice car.
Please note: others better qualified than i to make a valuation, but the time is running out!
Shaun.

I did some mechanical work on this car 3or4 years ago, it had an MOT and was drivable but was 'on the edge' of needing a lot more work to bring it up to reasonable standard. Buying the car is the easy bit, it's how much its all going to cost once its on your driveway thats the problem, as Shaun has already said the bills can get out of hand very easily.
My own opinon is that buying worn out intercepors on ebay sight unseen is not the way to do it!. The safest way to get a good car is to be guided by others who have been there before, many nice cars change hands within the club without going on general sale as people are 'in the know' about the work done to them.
Probably best idea is to join the club, go to some events and talk to the owners, if your patient a car will find its way to you once the words out on what you want.
I've just had onother ebay special delivered to me for some work, it's not good, champane money for a lemonade car, i'm unsure as yet what exactly what the customer wants but i'm not going to allow him to spend a fortune on it!.

HI Dave,
can you remember what you did to the car, also i have seen the car and can appreciate the costs involved to bring her back to life.My main objective was to get a basket case valuation.Any other small details you can remember would be helpful.
Thanks for the reply Alan.

Alan,
If you do buy a car on ebay make sure you see it in the flesh first - I bought an Interceptor on ebay based on what I thought were high resolution photos - the car didn't look too bad in the photos but oh boy - what a wreck it was. I decided to cut my losses and put it back on ebay with a more accurate description (I'm too honest ) I was lucky to get away with a loss of xxx£800 - if I'd kept it it would have taken lots of effort and money to get it through it's next mot, we did actually wonder if the MOT was a fake just to get the personal plate off it.
Luckily someone was prepared to put a lot of time and effort into the car (or at least pay Steve Payne to) and it is now back on the road.
Why not have a word with the dealers and see what they have? Cropredy will have various cars available, probably top end of market but if you speak to Andy Brooks at Appleyards then he usually has a selection of cars available at various prices and he is entirely honest about the faults etc. (see www.jensen.co.uk - no connection other than as a satisfied customer)

Hi Alan,
I bought a MKIII through Ebay last year. In my inexperience with the marque at the time and impetuosity I now have an expensive project! It cost me xxx£2500 which I thought was OK for a reasonably solid but MODIFIED vehicle.
I have since then spent over xxx£2500 just to return it to a nearer standard / manageable car and it is not on the road yet! Not to mention the many hours of work (welding, re-fitting etc.).
However, most of it (the work) has been rewarding, if rather frustrating.
As the guy's have said, how much do you want it? Do try and see it before you bid. On the surface it does look like a better bet than mine, but who knows?
You pay's your money and takes your choice........

Hi Alan,
Some v. good advice on here... as another scare story, see a few pics of the mk2 I bought last year sight unseen...
This when I got it home, still on the trailer; Looks pretty good, eh?
Perhaps not...
It was rotten as a pear, restorable - I guess so - but at GREAT expense.
I'm not saying the car on ebay will be anything like this one, but go in with your eyes WIDE open!!
Good luck!!
