Ah thanks. So you fit lower profile tyres and that's what makes the ride harder. And the wheels are wider which make the steering heavy. There was no mention of tyre profile so I assumed there was room to keep that the same. All understood now! Thanks.

Re: 17in wheels
I don't have an Interceptor and won't be buying wheels, but Colin's post seems very helpful to me, so purely for my academic interest, why should 17in wheels make the ride considerably more firm? I can understand low profile tyres would do that, but why the wheel diameter? I had assumed that the lar...

You mean "all publicity is good publicity"? Sorry, I don't agree.

Re: 1938 3½-LITRE S-TYPE DUAL-COWL TOURER ‘S44’ on Car and Classic
Looks like it was between your estimate and mine Joerg! "people are going to be referring to this price to see what the ceiling is on pre-war Jensens". Know what you mean but there have been others sold for more than that and suspect there will be again. One of the Jensen-Ford V8s sold for...

Sale ends in three days. Present bid £91K. That's a good start!

Re: 1938 3½-LITRE S-TYPE DUAL-COWL TOURER ‘S44’ on Car and Classic
You might be right Joerg, but we will have to wait and see. Discounting the White Lady there are only three S type tourers that have been on the market in the last 30 years, S28, S34 and S44. All sold in the UK for c£70K but that was quite a few years back. S28 was subsequently sold at least twice o...

That's a bit harsh Keith. True, but harsh. Your post is a bit like some my wife criticises me for posting!

Nicely put Richard!
I just don't understand some owners. But then there's n'owt so queer as folk. For many years I've thought a listing status for cars could be introduced as there is for buildings.

Just noticed that the vendor's trailer is from St.Albans. Only about 20 miles from where "The Jensen Club" was based in Buckinghamshire.

Maybe the vendor knows its not JOC and thinks it must be an old "official" club run by Jensen Motors?
For the avoidance of doubt - it was not!

Re: 1968 Mk I Interceptor £145,000
.....fact is mate most owners would be well pleased to see their quality car valued higher. I'll not say any more on the subject except to say that most owners will have seen a good rise in the value of their cars over recent years and if "most owners would be well pleased" at even higher...

Re: 1968 Mk I Interceptor £145,000
It can only be a good thing for the Mark if the price go up. Sorry Colin, we don't often disagree, but I don't know why you say that. Increasing prices mean increasing cost of insurance, suppliers feel they can charge more for parts and work, its worth unscupulous traders tarting up scruffy cars to...

Re: Interceptor on UK tv last night
Think I'm right in saying reflective plates were a legal requirement when that one was registered. Only in recent years has there been a loophole allowing post-1972 cars to have the black/white ones. I know when the reflectives came out some thought they were a bit blingy. My brother bought a new Mo...

Re: 1965 Jensen CV8 THE ONE AND ONLY CONVERTIBLE
Kenny, you may be right. I have known auctioneers bid "off the wall" to put the price up until it approaches the reserve. Often if the bid is close to the reserve a private deal will be arranged after the auction, in which case it won't appear on the open market any time soon. It will be i...

Just noticed that there was no buyers premium. But it was still too much.
