Carb has very low mileage (~ 2000 mls) and is freshly cleaned, float level ok, no air leaks at flange intake/carb. Car starts and runs generall...

the airflow sensors are also known to fail quite often.
Many users report that cleaning with brake cleaner was successfull.

some SLKs suffer from oil penetration via camshaft position sensor in the cable loom to the ECU. I do not know if this fits to your version. Mercedes provides a cure in terms of a "decoupler cable" to avoid the capillar effect of the cable loom. I am pretty sure if you google a bit in the ...
