Re: JLO 78K 128/4382

I remember wanting to paint my car a purple back in the 90's and everyone talked me out of it back then. And let me tell you, looking at your car, you hit the shade of purple that I was thinking of (bummer). Hmmm... just my opinion (FWIW), your leather interior looks perfect - I'd keep that colour a...

Re: Best Battery for a Mk3

Ian,

Does your Mk III use the original steel battery shroud (which would limit the length of the battery) or not?

Cheers,

Re: Keeping Busy Whilst Self Isolating

Hi Kevin, I hope to get as busy on my car as you have with yours! Great work. Fortunately, I have a 90 amp Mitsubishi alternator on my car with a Caterpillar (CAT) battery - so no problems electrically. Apart from the size, another reason that I chose the sub was its current draw - running continuou...

Re: Keeping Busy Whilst Self Isolating

Hi everyone, Well, after 4½ years of working 65 to 70 hours a week in two jobs, a few weeks ago, I found myself without any work, thanks to COVID-19 cutting short my consulting project, and in the same week, the government’s “no gathering rule” stopping my bakery side-gig dead in its tracks (no part...

Re: A seemingly radical idea to raise Jensen prices

Kenny, We all agree that we have two choices whilst in self isolation - spend time in the house with the missus, or in the garage working on the Jensen. And as there are several "What are you doing to the car whilst self-isolating" threads, I suspect that I know which one we have all chose...

Re: How to maintain your Jensen while staying home?

Hi guys, Actually, while I agree with most of your comments (especially putting the car on jack stands to take the weight off the tyres), I'd actually look to start the car every month or two to come up to operating temperature, bring the car through the gears (twice), turn on the air con for two mi...

Re: Interceptor III Convertible Stolen

Brings back memories when my wife's car was stolen 20 odd years ago - don't know what was worse, discovering the car was stolen, or having the police recover it 2 days later and seeing the state of the car (just stolen for a joy ride, abused and dumped in a field - car was written off due to panel d...

Ric's probably completing another memoir, which will allow his publishing empire to monopolise all things Jensen and allow him to dominate the automotive publishing world.

I can picture him laughing as he reads this, stroking a white cat...

Re: Dash cracks and bubbles in top of dash board

Hi Kenny, Yup, vacuum forming is the answer to your dash problems. Do it once, do it properly! But, as you've said, the whole dash needs to come out first, and that's where you probably need some assistance. First, grab a XXXX slab (this is gonna cost you more than a six-pack) and invite your electr...

Re: Help identifying a Convertible

Looks to be part-way through a restoration - removed windscreen, sill panel covers, side vent trim, front grill seem to point to a respray of the front, interesting that the bonnet doesn't seem to be louvered (would have thought that most Convertibles would have been fitted with the louvered bonnet)...

Oh KHB, I so feel for you. Happened to a friend of mine a few months back (and he's a mechanic too, so don't feel so bad - it does happen to everyone). Wait till you get the bill and find out what they charge you for disposing of the mixed fuel (hint - keep it yourself to wash parts with)!!! Cheers,...

And that photo of the gear vendors overdrive unit is using the long extension - there’s a shorter one as well that may be even easier to fit, and Not require too much of the tail shaft to be cut off. Please tell... what was the purpose of the thread... are you considering an new 4 speed box? Cheers,...

Re: Rocker selection with Jensen rocker covers

Hi Peter, I have a suspicion that you'll be fine with clearance (just to be sure, try installing the rocker covers without the gasket and using plasticine to measure the clearance), although on one of the rocker covers, there is a steel baffle which may cause some grief. There's about 8-10mm clearan...
