Re: Rebuild gets underway at last.....

Hi Grant,
No drama really, just a hassle having to buy another pair from the US! Quite obviously a manufacturing or quality control issue but no doubt Crane will say it’s not their problem! Anyway, on the plus side the engine sounded fantastic and nothing leaked out or fell off!

Re: Rebuild gets underway at last.....

It ran! But not for long! We have hit another snag, namely a dud Crane Cams hydraulic lifter on cylinder four so that has stopped play for now. I am trying to upload a short vid’ to YouTube but meanwhile here are a couple of stills: 2F43938C-EA7A-4C4D-8E11-29EC19B2FF0C.jpeg 83187170-C82F-4F8F-B88E-F...

Re: Rebuild gets underway at last.....

I have a hydraulic roller cam in my CV8. After 5-6.000 miles, the bronce gear that drives the distributor and the oil pump was totally worn out. I needed a billet alloy timing gear cover like this: https://www.manciniracing.com/mabbialtico.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fals...

Re: Rebuild gets underway at last.....

Nearly there now. The water pump housing and inlet manifold are back on, having been powder coated. The Jensen valve covers needed machining to fit with the Hughes rockers, but are now fitted too, so it will be on the dyno just after the May holiday. I will try to post a link to a video or two!

Re: Classic cars on the road

Spotted this in St Valery, not sure what it is though. The badge was a letter f in a slightly gothic looking typeface.

Bicester Sunday Scramble April 28th

I’m after two tickets if anyone finds themselves unable to attend. Please drop me a pm if you have a couple of unwanted tickets. I must say I was surprised that they’re listing the event as sold out, with no tickets available on the gate. How many people are they expecting I wonder??

Re: New Build from the States

The Leed unit was the one I was looking actually, as it is apparently very quiet in operation. Would you recommend using this purely for the brake booster, and does that mean the booster uses just the pump for vacuum without needing engine vacuum any more?

Re: New Build from the States

Mark,
That looks like a brilliant modification, even more so for those of us running the original brakes!
Got some more details?
Eric.

Re: Rebuild gets underway at last.....

Bruce, Some of the parts are based on your advice, namely the cam and the oil pan / windage tray! We are expecting 590bhp and torque not much adrift of that number. It should produce this at a fair bit less than 6000 rpm so no worries about it grenading itself (I hope.....). Do you have any thoughts...
