541 Princess engine

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165149896084 Bidders should note that this is a very early engine which is noted by the "Austin" script on the block right hand side. Probably very early 50's. Apart from the above, the distributor clamp is held on by one bolt on some of these . Push rods are di...

Re: Private party ?

I fully sympathise with "Woodie's" experience and chagrin. Was this exclusion fact well advertised in the Magazine and forum well before the event ? If not, then I feel he was well justified in feeling put out of the inner sanctum. If this failure was going to re-occur next year, then sure...

Re: The disappeared

I can't swear to it, but I seem to remember that Phil Dudley had the PJD reg on the car when he owned it. Phil lived in the Yate area near Bristol and several CV8's went through his hands.I went to his house once and there were around three CV8's in the back yard. Phil went over to Jaguars I think a...

Re: The disappeared

Many cars have gone abroad, one ex USAF friend took back three CV8's with him when his posting at RAF Benwarters/Woodbridge air base ended. One of these three was later stolen while he was on another posting out east. John Staddon has details of these. However many others have gone overseas never to...

Re: New rear lights 541 / 541R

In the long distant past in the 80's, I went to an auction sale of a company that had gone bust south of Bedford and bought a large box with around 36 of those rear lights. I was selling them for around £18.00 a pair, I believe, which was not a bad profit, as I had bought them for a bid of £36.00 !!...

Re: 1965 Jensen CV8 THE ONE AND ONLY CONVERTIBLE

Is this the CV8 convertible with the extra childs seat in the middle of the two front seats ? From the distant past, I remember seeing it at a Jensen rally at West Bromwich
at the Jensen factory

Re: 541 s at Bonhams auction 179 3197

Front of the bonnet looks a bit strange to me, although it could just be photo angle ? Can't say I like the interior trim/dashboard. Otherwise looks reasonable original.

Re: Early 541 needing complete rebuild

There is a posibility that the bonnet mould for the 541 was modified into the 541R shape to save costs. When the 541 stock of bonnets was exhausted then only the R type were available. I seem to remember that both types were made during the 80's by Liz Wright in Essex and I think that the section of...

Re: Early 541 needing complete rebuild

Chassis no. 59/5633 1956 car , not 60's as advert states !! Original owner was W Parton. Looks like the car has most of the original chrome which is a plus.Wonder if the seat shells are with the car? Heater blower on front outside of bulkhead, not as per the earlier cars. This might have been a facto...

Re: Issue with Firefox

Sorted mine. It was a clash between two browsers, Firefox and Google, now made Firefox the default one and now it seems to be ok. (fingers crossed.)

Re: Issue with Firefox

If I try and access the forum through my normal shortcut tab, I get an error 403, access denied. Only way I can get on the forum is via the main JOC site. Any ideas here ?

Re: 541s auto for sale - very original but roadworthy

I knew this car when Kenny Bowden in Norwich (near the airport) owned it. He looked after it well and it was always pretty spotless. It was in his ownership (or his father's) for several years. The family also owner a mk. 1 Interceptor, one of the very early ones. Kenny passed the S on to his nephew...
