Re: Best Version of Interceptor (Saloon) and Why?

My mk1 FF was never too hot in summer. I would drop both windows down, and had the interior heater permanently off with an isolation valve in the heater hose to be 100% sure. Hardly ever used the Webasto. I had front mounted radiator fans behind the grill. Colin Holley asked if it cooled OK, then po...

Re: Interceptor FF

that badge on the front bumper, just no. Isn't that where the number plate goes ? Yes well spotted Colin! Hmm, maybe the Aston Martin style trim across the double vents. Put that in the list instead. I wouldn't be bothered at all if they scratch built a new car that looked like that AI based render...

Re: New member advice

There have recently been a couple of members cars sold at very reasonable prices, particularly knowing they have been well loved and regularly used. Good luck with your search. Best advice would have been to get one of those! These cars can be run surprisingly cost effectively if you do your resear...

Re: Interceptor FF

I think it looks pretty grim, like a low budget 70s Capri body kit. Those wheel arches, the rear spoiler, that badge on the front bumper, just no.

Re: Best Version of Interceptor (Saloon) and Why?

Of the standard cars, a manual MK1, an SP, a very early MK3 440, or a 383 MK3 would be my favourites in order. I love the GKN wheels and on a sharp MK1 they look the biz given that the No1 choice a sharp set of factory RoStyles are beyond most people's budget. I love Wolfrace wheels too for Mk1s and...

Re: 4 post ramps

It takes all sorts! That does work though, there is a video on YouTube too! To save more effort, you could leave a small car on the ramp as you lower the ramp onto the trailer, save another journey and you only have to strap on the car! I didn't try that as the Bradbury is a very wide 4 poster and I...

Amazing quality. ...

Re: Interceptor MKIII - 129/5640 - Complete restoration

Thanks Jim, that makes it more interesting, presumably Edgar must have sold it in Switzerland!

Catolard,

The number 1 thing now should be to research the rest of the car's history! Try and find all details about the cars history, ideally get copies of old French and Swiss documents!

"Plans at present are to work areas at a time clean prep repair and epoxy each as I go."

Sounds like a good plan! Looking forward to more pics!

Re: Interceptor MKIII - 129/5640 - Complete restoration

Welcome and what a fantastic project. That sounds like a good plan to get all the paint done first. I really like this version of the Mk3, and have often thought what I would like to do to an LHD one for driving in Europe! The Mk3 you have is said by many to be a most practical and well sorted Inter...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)

Slave labour probably John :D :D Just googled the average American car doing 11,000 miles a year emits 4.5 tonnes of CO2  Probably about what a Jensen would do in daily use or maybe a bit on the low side but that ballpark. North Korea per capita C02 is around 450kg. Climate in NK is closer t...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)

By we, I mean the majority of humans on planet earth, China, India, Pakistan, the majority of the world, like it or not. Probably better not to compare ourselves too much to those countries though: Interesting figures Felix. Russia is very low given the cold climate there and lots of fossil fuel. I...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)

I completely disagree with you on all the below Richie. Also I don't see how any of that is the slightest bit relevant to a driving experience, unless it is some woke rose tinted feel good factor clouding the experience. EVs have some niche applications, and I am please to see that in the UK take up...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)

Yes, VED goes above zero rate next year (or that is the current plan). I don't have any argument with that - I use the roads, so I should pay. Well historic vehicles and post 2001 diesel VW Lupo 3Ls and a handful of other high efficiency low emission vehicles now 15 years plus old remain VED exempt...

Re: Buying an Irish car - Help please

I would have a chat with the auctioneer. If it is a larger car auctioneer, they will be very cautious about VAT and property recording the sale otherwise they can be held liable. With a mainland DVLA registered vehicle the auction house now insists on putting the car in an individual person's name b...
