Toad Hall J-H

My wife and I have just returned from a touring holiday (Avis Escort Titanium) of some of the original English colonies in the US (Va. Ri. & Ma.). I managed to fit in visits to three car collections one of them having belonged to the grandson of Eli Lilly the pharmaceutical entrepreneur. Pristin...

Seen at Chateau Impney today, a pristine 541R. Re: Lucas - famous for dependability

It is very sad for me to read the implied derogatory remarks about Lucas and it's products. Lucas featured large in my early life, not only as a user of its products on several Minis that I owned but even before that. As a child, I was aware that a number of respected family friends worked for the c...

Re: Classic cars on the road

I can't believe it, two classics on consecutive days. A beautifully turned out MG PA in Warwick town centre this time. I guessed PB purely because I didn't think that it was a 'T' series car. The owner said "close, it is the smaller engined PA". https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GZ9hdpTVZ7c/WSM5S...

Re: Classic cars on the road

I couldn't resist taking photos of this recently restored 1977/8 Alfa Romeo Spider S2 2000 seen on the car park of the Falcon pub/restaurant (highly recommended) at Hatton near Warwick. The lettering on the bunting reads 'MARRIED'. Shame it spoils the line of the car :) https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N8...

There is one (MG) at the British Motor Museum, or at least there was a year ago when these photos were taken -

Classic Car & Restoration Show

I visited the Classic Car & Restoration Show today and among many others, I took these Jensen related photos which may be of some interest. Some of you may be aware that Danny Hopkins, of 'Practical Classics' magazine, has a long term project restoring a Jensen Interceptor MK.II. It is one of th...

Re: Jensen Factory postcard

I am as guilty as anyone in using the descriptions 'chief' and 'deputy' when describing Eric Neale's and Kevin Beattie's respective positions at Jensen. I have carelessly taken these descriptions from this forum and the many articles written about Jensen Motors and its history on the internet. The f...

Re: NEC Classic car show

Thank you for your kind words Kevin but I must correct you on one thing; I have no importance as far as Jensen or the JOC are concerned. My only relevance is that I had two spells of employment with the company in my youth and I have fond memories of many of the people I worked with in the D.O. and ...

Re: NEC Classic car show

I have attended many car related events over the years but have to say that last week-end's Classic Car Show at the NEC was one of the most enjoyable. A significant part of that enjoyment was gained on the Jensen Owners Club stand. The main aim of my visit was to take some photos of the stand and ca...

Re: Jensen Factory postcard

Yes, Felix, it was an exaggeration on my part and a misreading of the current Google map, to suggest that the compulsory purchase of Jensen's Carters Green factory was unecessary. At least 1/3rd of the north side of the factory ended up under the Expressway. I speculate that the company would have t...

Re: Jensen Factory postcard

Congratulations Felix on the fantasic research work you have done on Jensen's Carters Green and Pensnett factories. You ask if anyone knows who occupied which office in the Carters Green main office. I cannot help you with that, I only visited that block once in the time I worked at Carters Green an...

Re: Millard's musings.

Yes, interesting stories indeed, all part of the rich tapestry which is Jensen. A tapestry to which I am proud to have been able to make a small contribution. However, I have to confess to feeling quite sad when I read the story involving Tom Killeen. Anyone who knew Mr. Killeen, as he was known by ...

Interceptor Card

I was sent this as a 'birthday' card. In fact it is and 'open card' and is therefore not restricted to birthdays. The artwork is by George Morgan and the cards are available from http://www.motoringillustrations.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; On the back of the card the...
