STILL not running vacuum advance! Any reason why not? You would get even better MPG with it connected. You would have over 50 degrees of advance at cruise. I know there is arguments about the vacuum advance plate causes the timing to fluctuate, but given how crude the whole thing is, I don't ...

Re: Rasping noise.

Hello, So I finally got it to start (timing 180 out!!!!) It runs evenly on tickover but if I rev it, I get a harsh rasping noise from the near side rocker area. It revs freely and sound really good from the back. I have noticed some liquid in the circular annulus on the side of the head that is par...

I'm considering this as a possible set up if it's working well for you. BTW- my caution to you...? Bonnet to air cleaner distance!!! I had to buy an air cleaner and then make my own base to be able to run it. I'm sure many different routes can be taken, but test fit the aircleaner and see there is ...

What fuel pump are you using? Standard mechanical or an electric? I'm considering this as a possible set up if it's working well for you. Since I'm building my engine up from scratch I have some flexibility in what I do. (Still trying to be budget conscious, although it's not working very well. :D ...

Sounds pretty impressive. I think the dual manifolds flow not only well in CFM numbers, but also in a matter of balance. The single 4 barrel has wildly different length runners (and CFM numbers) so maybe lean jetted dual quads on a balanced manifold is something to do with it. Chuck in a bit of com...

STILL not running vacuum advance! I ammmm burning rubber though! I want to get an "in car" video of running my car so people get an idea- good or bad- of how my Interceptor goes.... maybe start a thread, everybody with a video camera could take a video and see what the differences lo...

I *think* I'm getting 20ish mpg on the highway.... sounds wrong, but every time I fill up I think someone has tossed a few gallons in here and there when I wasn't looking!

I'm used to low teens up to high teens (Imperial gallons) for a 440....

It gets embarrassingly good mileage. I have a hard time believing it to be honest, and I have had lots of 440 cars. I would say very high teens easily, maybe even higher at a steady pace on the highway!!! Is that US gallons Marc? We have litres and Imperial gallons - I'm not sure how to fig...

Great stuff. Please let me know who the Interceptor gets on with them My car starts poorly when it sits for a few days or more- the fuel bleeds back and I have to crank until the carbs get fuel to start. Usually a minute when it sits fo a week or more. That's a good thing as it gets lot's of oil ar...

Great stuff. Please let me know who the Interceptor gets on with them I never realised I hadn't replied to this!!! SORRY! For those still interested, I have driven this all over right through the year, rain sleet and lots of snow. My car starts poorly when it sits for a few days or more- the fuel b...

Unless you have really good high octane fuel (around 100 octane) the only way you are going to run 10:1 compression these days is with a very slow ignition advance curve, and very low idle advance figure (probably less than 10 degrees). I would lean towards aluminum heads and a larger duration cams...

Back to camshaft questions. Here's what I've been able to dig up on the new shaft that came with the engine I bought: Lobe centerline (intake): 110 degrees Lobe centerline (exhaust): 116 degrees Cam type: Hydraulic Intake lift: .289" Exhaust lift: .287" Intake duration: 206 degrees Exhaus...
