Re: Geneva Motor Show cars

The JAK cartoon appeared during one Earls court show at which Lamborghini had a topless model on their stand on Press Day, probably in 1969. Carl Duerr was convinced the bespectacled exec on the Jensen was meant to be him, so Gethin Bradley was directed to buy the original from JAK which he did, for...

Re: Geneva Motor Show cars

The evening before the Press Day I was on my own on the stand waiting for Edgar etc to return from his stand, when I saw a group of three dark-suited men standing by the stand and looking very unhappy. I approached and found myself talking to members of the show organising committee. The reason why ...

I agree, but Dick Graves was horrified! Nothing but Wilton would do for him!

Re: Geneva Motor Show cars

Thank you Tony! No, I was not aware. I googled Scherer Messebau and a Hans Peter Scherer was listed in the Canton Aargau (in Schlossrued), not far from Zurich. I phoned him up and he did confirm that he did the stands for Edgar Schwyn, but that he has nothing in his archive and that he is now retir...

Re: Geneva Motor Show cars

Felix, Have you ever met up with Edgar's exhibition stand designer Richard (?) Scherer? I last saw him at Edgar's funeral and so I am not sure he is still around. If he is, he should be able to provide more Geneva Show pictures and, more importantly, pictures of Edgar's Auto Accessory stands. Edgar ...

Re: Int 111 Colour Check Please

I checked the colour panels in Rik's book and found the normal Yellow, but didn't think to look at the codes, as this Buttercup was not a standard colour, In fact, I think only one car was painted with it...or do I need to revisit Specsavers?

Cheers, Helen

Re: Int 111 Colour Check Please

Calver says Buttercup, with Black roof, which is not much help as this is not a Jensen standard colour. However, we sometimes used the same name for special colours if they came from another manufacturer and it may be possible to check this. The destination country is listed as Australia, but whethe...

Re: Humidity in garage

I used to use dehumidifiers for drying our buildings post floods, such as burst water tanks in roofs. These were originally designed to speed up the drying of plaster in new buildings and had an air throughput of 800 cy ft per min and a max water collection of around 12 gallons a day. With the humid...

Re: Classic cars on the road

I once had brief ownership of Fulvia 1.6 HF, only too brief as a Lancia dealer, it disappeared off the forecourt very quickly (for money, of course!). But what a fantastic little car; the 1.3 was a joy, but this one.....something else. As a replacement, the Beta Coupe deserves a lot of praise, but i...

Happy New year, Stu, I learned the other day that you use the services of Paul at Get Smart in Bristol. Glad to hear that as I am about to entrust a newly acquired P6B to him!

Yes, Voxson and Driver's door mirror, and the car was invoiced from the factory on Jan 9th, 1974, presumably to Wilmslow Motors, although Calver's does not show the original reg number.

Re: Jensen SP

I remember showing a potential customer round the factory who asked me why he should consider buying an SP instead of an Interceptor. I suggested that if performance was key to any decision, then he should consider the SP, especially if he might be thinking of an Aston or Ferrrari, for example. 'Kno...
