Re: Very nice 541 for auction near Cologne / Germany
Looks to me like the top hinge on the drivers side door is too far out of correct position and needs to be further in towards inside of car. Problem there is that Jensen welded the door post hinge plates so you can't alter them. The hinge plates inside the doors give a bit of adjustment, but at a co...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation
That is about all I know. Location was said to be in the middle of Kent I believe.
I think it was Dave Horton who told me this.

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation
Last I heard of the real CV8 FF (and that was in the 80's) was that it was rusting away in a field in Kent. Was that its final resting place ?

Trying to trace a person
Any old club members or others, know of an English chap called Lou reed, and not the US musician. I have been in touch with a very early club member, Tony Hunt, who now lives in Thailand. He informed me that he passed on some some very unique Jensen factory photos among others, to the above person ....

Re: PW for sale
The PW is now sold and is now in Germany at a very good home. I decided to sell mainly due to arthritis, but it turned out this was polymiolitis rheumatica and I was on steroids for several months and am now ok thank goodness. It has gone to a good home. Now looking for a very original 541/541R (not...

Re: Sale of new Petrol & Diesel only cars to be banned from
Once the infrastructure was set up, then all electric vehicles could be fitted with a charge meter and meter readings would then be paid to the government or a central electricity supplier. The more miles you went, the more you would pay. No road tax would be needed. Insurance should be cheaper as t...

Re: Sale of new Petrol & Diesel only cars to be banned from
"And as for diminishing resources, remember that in the seventies we were warned about oil running out by the year 2000." I have car books from the 1930's which stated that oil would soon be running out and alternative fuels should be investigated. I favour a system where electric cars aut...

Re: Austin 4-litre engine minus head
It has the normal push rods. The very early engines had different push-rods with a spring loaded cup. (circa 1950)

Re: Austin 4-litre engine minus head
The cam should be the same as the DS5 engine. (DS7 I believe is different.)

Re: Interceptor bodyshell/chassis built from scratch
All these clever guys seem to have a Pullmax tucked away in the workshop. I saw one in one of the photos. A very versatile machine which, with the aid of various tools, can do all sorts of things to sheet metal. (Louvres for instance on bonnets is just one example.) A friend of mine who runs Classic...

Re: The History of the forming of the JOC
Strange that it all started with Len's 541 accident. I dug out the first club magazine,(1st.August 1972), a photocopied 17 stapled page affair and the first five members in club order were Len Jackson, myself, Peter Wallis, Malcolm Pleasants and Jonathon Scholes. In magazine no. 3, the committee was...

The History of the forming of the JOC
The formation of the Jensen Owners' Club. I thought that it was high time that I enlightened current members of how the Jensen Owners' Club came into being. Most of the early members have now left the club, or are now in that great breakers yard in the sky. !! In or around 1971 I had bought a 541 in...

Re: Austin 4-litre engine minus head
It is an SRD engine.(service replacement D series) Very early as it has the "Austin" script on the off side.(pre 1955) . It has standard sized pistons then Austin would probably have sleeved the cylinders. Crank has been re ground .020". However as it is a recon engine, it might not h...
