Re: Viper Gearbox
If it is the same size as a 518 - it will fit but it is a lot tighter than a 727. The problem is the rear part is wider than the existing crossmember so the crossmember will need trimming to get it in. Hi Steve You are correct about the rear part being wider, but then again just look at the Gear Ve...

Re: Viper Gearbox
If you're going to do such a modification then be prepared to take the engine and gearbox out countless times to get it to fit just right. I think part of fitting problem may have been the Viper Engine length, which required the gearbox to be moved towards the rear of the car…. If it was fitted beh...

Re: Viper Gearbox
It turns out to be a TorqueFlite 48RE - Thus is an electronically governed, ECU controlled, four-speed heavy-duty overdrive automatic transmission that was fitted to some Dodge Ram's. It was made in two wheel drive and four wheel drive versions. The Viper transmission shown has the two wheel drive t...

Re: Viper Gearbox
The V10 is mated to a 42RLE 4-speed automatic gearbox, According to: https://www.streetmusclemag.com/news/viperceptor-se-the-viper-v10-powered-jensen-interceptor/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It doesn't seem to be a 42RLE, I have been comparing it with Google pictures of...

Video - How to Time & Verify a Camshaft
I stumbled by Chance across a video that shows how to verify a camshaft on a Mopar 440 .... Have you actually been sent the camshaft you ordered? What are the timing events and how do you check them? https://youtu.be/-owEg9HOW1Y

This is the one that comes with a lot of good reviews, http://www.aldonamethyst.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have never actually fitted one but the principle is easy enough. You may care to have a read of this link if you are considering the Aldon Amethyst https...

Re: 74 J series 440 looking to improve MPG, heads off.
My first thought was to switch to Source 440 heads. 440Source.com sells a range of heads that include: TrickFlow https://www.trickflow.com/search/department/cylinder-heads/part-type/cylinder-heads/make/chrysler/engine-size/7-2l-440?N=4294961402%2B4294963710%2B4294965591%2B4294961758 Edelbrock https...

Re: Coolant Filter
You make some good points Racer Joe ..... But its a case of gummed/blocked up radiator or possibly slightly restricted water flow due to the filter. If all is like new, then the filter is not needed. But if you are dealing with a 40 year old engine that possibly hasn't been rebuilt in that time, the...

Re: Coolant Filter
I have used an Australian made TEFBA coolant filter on my Interceptor for many years and have been very happy with it, Regards, Basil Hi Basil Thanks for your post I hadn't heard about the TEFBA filter. Looks like a good option since you can clean it without draining the cooling system. Only downsi...

Re: Coolant Filter
Has never been necessary in the past--why now!! :) "Over Heating" and "Interceptor" go hand in hand ..... Could this have been exacerbated by "Crud" in the cooling system clogging the radiator over time? Something that we just hadn't thought about. Champion are in the ...

Coolant Filter
Has anyone tried using one of the Champion Cooling Systems Coolant Filters? According to Street Muscle Magazine http://www.streetmusclemag.com/news/installing-champion-cooling-aluminum-radiator-57-chevy/ even an engine that has just been rebuilt can have chunks of rust in its coolant passages that w...

Re: Water Pump Options
I don't think you will see any difference! :) Well I did notice a big difference. The first thing I noticed was the temperature gauge would go up and down a lot more than I am used too. Also when driving at under 50mph the engine was running a lot hotter. Normally the gauge on my car runs between t...
