Ford also had to make some accommodation with Dutton, who were making a kit car, based on Ford mechanicals I think, two or three years before Ford introduced their Sierra.

The writing visible above the Pirelli logo is a slight giveaway: Frangivento Sorpasso. I think I’m right in saying that Frangivento in Italian means “break wind”.

My uncle Colin, younger brother of Eric, was head of Styling at Ford GB when the Anglia, Consul Classic etc. were created. He was not particularly happy with the reverse rake rear screens on the Anglia and Classic, a design feature which had been imposed from above, so he set about designing the Cap...
