Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)

I've enjoyed reading these posts and learned a lot. I do however question figures given without a source. And even if there is a source how can they tell the CO2 output of an entire country? They can't even tell what the GDP of the UK was last quarter without revising it later, so how do "they&...

Re: H&H auction: 1931 AJS - Jensen touer

The one I was aware of was OJ 59 when built, so presumably the numberplate was changed at some point. As the text says, I am sure there was only ever one. Chamberlain bought remaining chassis from AJS and finished them himself, including just this one bodied by Jensen. AJS owners seem to disassociat...

David, you are incorrigible - no pre-War Jensens indeed! Unless you want to look at every mini, 2CV and Fiat you'll have a lot more than 40 seconds for each. Good luck.

Re: Viperceptor at Historics Auction RUF 340M

I admire the engineering and the undoubtedly transformed performamce and road holding. I also admire the bravery of the customer for whom it was made, but its a risk. How does it run? Does everything work? Does it overheat? etc etc, There are several wonderful cars in that sale at what look like ver...

Re: Model Overview with Specs (help!)

Your figure of 47 is correct for the 3.6 litre S type. The 2.2 litre were X types so best ignored.

There were 13 H types. (numbered 1 to 12 plus HC1).

David Davies has published "Jensen: The Surviving 3 1/2 & 4 1/4 Litre Cars" ... and its incredibly good value too! I hesitate to say cheap, but certainly value for money.

Re: The Jensen Genome

Quite agree David! The perfect book has probably not yet been published. I write many articles for magazines and also instructions for my own model kits (not cars). For model kits, the problem I have after launch is that people don't like to tell me about errors because they think either it must be ...

Re: restoration

Proline at Earls Barton are very good. I've not had work on Jensens done there but they are nice people to deal with and capable of superb quality.

But most places will probably think twice about putting it back together when they didn't take it apart.

Wonderful news. A superb place which should make them secure for many years and about as close to the Jensen factory as they could be.

I wonder what happened to press Mike for pressing the middles out..I wish I had got my hands on it!! https://joc.org.uk/smiles/artists/big/Viannen_loungelizard.gif When I went to Rubery Owen to buy a set of these wheels for 116 3328 they were closing much of the factory and sold the tooling to Spai...

Re: My Mk1 Interceptor currently in Bonhams auction

The Rostyles look like MK2 to me. Rubery Owen had about 50 of these left over in the late 1980s and sold them off. I believe Cropredy bought most of them and sold them on. Those were chromed from new and in my opinion are perfect for this car, being just a tad wider but otherwise identical.

Gosh. Grant, I didn't recognise it at first! He's kept it is superb condition. Very pleased I sold it to him all those years ago. Is the ex-Nick Langford sage green one still in the club too?

"Loose metallic rattling from the base of the gearlever". Yes, mine always did that, especially on power, not when ticking over. You can't hurry the gearchange but otherwise I loved mine too. Had it for about 25 years I think. From about 1977 to 2002ish. 116 3328.

Yes, that's one of a series of pictures taken of HL1. The registration was a trade plate of course, it never carried that registration number.

Re: 17in wheels

Ah thanks. So you fit lower profile tyres and that's what makes the ride harder. And the wheels are wider which make the steering heavy. There was no mention of tyre profile so I assumed there was room to keep that the same. All understood now! Thanks.
