Re: Interceptor bodyshell/chassis built from scratch

CDC =cathodic dip coating is the best (but rather expensive) base process for rustproofing: https://youtu.be/J3qDEc42Gbk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Problem is you have to deliver a pure shell without any sealing or other coating. That could prevent the cathodic primer t...

Re: Free, at last!

Yes, Brexit will lead to economic problems. But - freedom was never for free, right ?

My opinion: As a free trade area the EU was a huge sucess. But when the bureaucrats grabbed for political power and set directions for a european government things were starting to go wrong.

Re: About the Brasinca Uirapuru

I find it's not fruitful to guess who stole which idea from whom. Some ideas are in the air at certain times and derive from main trends of the day. Which implementation surfaces at first is probably more or less luck or a timing and resources issue. And the first one doesn't always take an idea to ...

Re: Immaculate Jensen Interceptor S4 LHD for sale

As for the strange TPxxxxx Number: This is a “Typprüfnummer“ assigned by the almighty TÜV. As the Interceptor in 1992 wasn't from a current production series with a series approval, this single car had to be approved on a one-off basis by the technical authority (the TÜV) to be registered “highway l...

Re: 115/2541 - Vignale on EBay.

Wow, 2541 is a perfect example for the german saying "Edelrost stahlfrei" => translates to "noble rust, free from steel". While the bodys of the interceptors tend to rust badly, I thought the bitubular frame was rather durable ... so this sight was rather shocking  Just cu...

Re: 115/2943 work in progress

Window Lifters: Had the same problem on a 1985 Saab 900: The spring was broken. Just attaching a new spring didn't help. The solution was to wind up the spring some turns so it is preloaded  . Ideally the spring force makes up for the majority of the weight of the glass and lifter mechanism so...

Re: Tyres - same old topic but help needed

My guess would be as these are made in low volumes they are probably hand made. I am sure the figure I heard quoted by Pirelli was they used to run about 150 tyres in a batch and that would take them up to 3 years to sell. How many cars used this size of tyre and how often do they need replacing? I...

Re: Tyres - same old topic but help needed

Well right, but the Federals are all-weather tyres with M+S ("slush and snow") marking, which qualifies them as winter tyres. So just add a sticker with "max. 190 km/h" on the dashboard and it's perfectly legal and you are safe insurancewise all year round, as long as you don't e...

Re: Tyres - same old topic but help needed

With Falken (german make) you do not comprimese at all. I also want to drive with good and reliable tyres. With the power of a Jensen it is stupid to go for "bad" tyres. Falken is a german word (=falcon), but no german tyre. They are japanese made by Sumitomo Rubber Industries, the name p...
