Re: joke thread

After an evening at the Pub, a man crawls into bed. The woman says,,"You're drunk!" He says, "how do you know?" and she replies, "Because you live next door !"

Re: Valley Pan

Also the valley pan comes with two sets of gaskets for top and bottom of the pan edges for installation...Do you use these? Or do you feel that they are superfluous?

Re: Valley Pan

I am confused...if I do not cover the top of that "U" shape, won't exhaust gasses be coming out???
And I am also confused as to your suggestions of JB Weld and a cut piece of tin...please elaborate on this.
Thank you

Re: Valley Pan

Here is a picture of the rounded part of what I think is the exhaust ...and the valley pan does not cover it...strange...also the blue towel inside the engine is to keep bits and pieces from falling in there.... Years and years ago, I cut out the valley pan to fit a bit of tin I used to cover this.....

Valley Pan

On my 73 MKIII I have had some leaks onto the valley pan and oil collecting under the intake manifold. I removed everything and after cleaning up all the head faces, I find that years ago I had to fabricate a small plate to cover the area of the exhaust crossover that the valley pan did not reach. I...

Re: power steering problem

One more thing (Great Scot..does this man ever shut up??) If you fill the p/s pump up to the brim..when the stuff gets hot, it is going to spill out all over the front cross member...cold level of the fluid in the pump should be about three fingers more or less high..if that makes sense. Regards, Fr...

Re: power steering problem

Take a look at that small rubber tube that runs from one end of the rack to the other. It gets brittle after thirty or forty years or so. I used some of the yellow plastic fuel line the lawnmower shops sell...flexible, and doesn't crack etc..

Re: Mk3 Fuel Filter location

On my MKIII the filter is mounted along the frame rail a few feet before it is fed into the pump.... Have you looked up under there?

Re: Replacement of Power Steering Pump

I took my old power steering pump to the local NAPA store and they secured a rebuilt pump and attached my original pulley to it...works fine.
