Re: Mx5 powered Healey on ebay
It looks to be a nicely finished job but... I wonder about the legality of the protrusion of the wheels beyond the wheel arches? I suspect there will people who will think it doesn't matter because it's MOT-exempt, but of course that doesn't help, in legal terms.

HOWEVER note " Please note that the buyers premium applied to this lot is 25% including VAT ." OUCH. And if you bid online: "Please note that any lots purchased via the-saleroom.com live auction service will be subject to an additional 4.95% commission charge VAT at the rate imposed ...

Re: Rear handbrake assembly fork
It's odd - at one stage I thought I had seen somewhere that this type was used on one variant of the e-type, but I can't remember where now and I suspect I'm just remembering wrong! In some ways it's a better design than the bolted design, because it's fully floating - in theory, if one side of the ...

Re: Rear handbrake assembly fork
Thanks - yes, the C-V8 has forks that are *exactly* as shown in your picture. That's why I replaced the one in my picture with one that looks like the one in your picture. Yes, they are Jaguar-based, and yes, the correct type (for a Jaguar) comes in two different sizes. As far I'm aware, the C-V8 on...

Rear handbrake assembly fork
This is something that I found on my C-V8 MkIII when fixing the bodgery that had been done to its handbrake caliper assemblies: https://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/19/80/26/47/img_0513.jpg Before I throw it away, I thought it would be wise to check that this is not a part from an earlier model such as a 5...

I was thinking that too - looks as though the door skin and front wing are missing?

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
So we should also move to hydrogen vehicles as water is plentlyful. Unfortunately hydrogen poses other problems, in addition to the fact that (at present) almost all sources come from fossil fuels. Probably the biggest is the fact that hydrogen is very very difficult to transport in bulk. In rough ...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
Mojo . I’d be interested in how old the car is and did you check on the batteries health & depreciation value ? (What car is it?) Was it bought to enter a ULEZ area. My real problem with EV’s is firstly where our electric comes from and secondly it’s like buying a petrol/diesel car where after ...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
As a car fan, I've always tried to convey that the enthusiasm I have for driving an EV is based on exactly that - driving. No govt of any colour can forgo the revenue that the motorist provides, so any cost savings will be temporary. And what you said here influenced my thinking about EVs and what ...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
Well historic vehicles and post 2001 diesel VW Lupo 3Ls and a handful of other high efficiency low emission vehicles now 15 years plus old remain VED exempt. Quite rightly in my view. A light vehicle with no frills, low carbon impact to make, small tyres that last ages, 90+mpg, shame they are not p...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
How many would have bought/leased without the incentives? I believe Road Fund Licensing comes in for EV’s in 2025 I can only speak from personal experience - I bought one last year, secondhand, cash purchase. No lease or incentives involved - so some people do! Yes, VED goes above zero rate next ye...

Re: Electric vehicles (split from Quentin Willson's hot tips)
Is this the end of EV’s already ? We've just passed a total of one million battery-only electric vehicles on the road in the UK. On average each one of those will be with us for at least 10 years, so rumours of "the end of EVs" don't really make much sense. If you want objective reporting...

Ok Neil - I can get it into the RM "Small parcel" category, so if you PM me your address, I'll post it to you and if you find it does what you need it to, you give £5 to your favourite local charity to cover the postage costs? If it doesn't suit your needs, all you need to do is make sure ...
