Re: in the garage

When it was current I remember, and used to lust after, the ‘S’ version of the Triumph Herald. The joke at the time was that it was slower than the standard Herald because of the weight penalty of the extra carb! The 2 Litre Vitesse was however a flyer with contemporary adverts boasting 12.5 secs to...

“Shabby chic is a style of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique.”

Re: CV8 electrical charging system

Latest: The battery is only holding 55% of its capacity The alternator is older than I thought and despite being 90amp does not supply enough to charge headlamps, fans, heater etc at tick-over which surprised me. First step is a new battery and the retest the alternator as the weak battery may be ef...

Re: CV8 electrical charging system

Thanks Martin.
The Battery is about a year old. Is there a away of testing it without a proper battery tester? I have a multimeter.
The battery meter in the cockpit shows 14V on charge which drops to 11v on tickover.
Terminals tight.

CV8 electrical charging system

Now that winter nights draw on I’m experiencing what I believe is a problem with the newly overhauled electrics on my CV8 Last week I had a two hour run and was luckily only about 200 yards from home when the throttle became unresponsive at low speed and I felt a stall was imminent . A quick jab on ...

Re: Classic cars on the road

My first trip to Cornwall was in the back of a similar Zephyr. It was 1968 before the road improvements and despite leaving at midnight it took 11 hours in the middle of the holiday season! Luckily there was enough room to stretch out in the back. I saw this today............ FFEC42C4-E4F5-4545-811B...

Re: Name That Car

Steady on James, that’s someone’s baby! It’s a tale of marque identity syndrome. At the time Daimler and Lanchester were essentially the same company. The chap driving it was a Lanchester man who wanted a Lanchester version of the Daimler Conquest Century New Drophead Coupe. (What a moniker!) 308FB4...

Re: Wolfrace wheels for sale

Hi Stephen. It's on Rostyles as recommended by Andrew Cassar. I asked him to sell the CV8 and he suggested it would be more '1960s' with a wheel change. Unfortunately poor Andrew died just before Christmas and then afterwards there was Covid which put the market on hold. But on the other hand a pal ...
