Re: SV8

Saw that SV8 about a year ago, when going to look at a MK1 Escort for a friend near Evesham. Chap had loads of old Fords, he does them up, strips them etc, amongst them was this, and other makes. Some rare cars there, and was convinced he was the one who bought my ex wife's Capri 2L S. This SV8 is w...

If anybody on here has bought this, I can collect it and keep it for you, I live in Halesowen. I'll be at the NEC show next week so can bring it along.

Re: Name that car

Thanks all, I knew somebody would have an idea. If you like strange vehicles, visit the SPWCC stand at the NEC Resto show, we will have a Reliant Prince regent on show. 3 wheeler with Austin Seven running rear, done out in period as a painter & decorator's van.

Re: Name that car

Anybody got any idea what this is? A friend forwarded it to me asking if it was a real car, looks genuine, there were some strange ideas in the middle of the last century.

Re: A nice find - 440 badges

I've got a 240 badge somewhere too, and I've seen an Australian workshop manual for the Cortina MK2 220,240 &440, so looks like those were the basic versions, but what do these badges actually mean? I presume the GT, 1600e and Lotus were all available in Oz. The MK2 was only available with 1300c...

Re: Check your fuel tank inlet hose

Good call Dave, I will check mine now.

Another hose which gets overlooked is the rear brake hose from the body to the axle, I changed mine a few years back when trying to undo it, the rubber just fell out of the crimped metal union, although it didn't look that rusty

Re: Classic cars on the road

Out for our car club's usual New Year run and lunch, a few nice cars out, Unfortunately Alan & Chris Jones' RR Phantom, just dwarfs everything due to its massive size. The RR is dwarfing a 1930's Rover sports saloon, and Martin Brown's newly acquired Lanchester right at the back, a complete chan...

Re: Wiper Spindle Repair

Hi Tony, the wheel is pressed onto the shaft, so the failure will either be teeth stripping off the wheel, the wheel coming off the shaft, or the rack stripping or snapping. If you can rotate the shaft through 360 degrees then it will either be wheel coming off the shaft, which will mean stripping th...

As John says, Dunnattar Castle just south of Stonehaven on the East coast. Bet you could get an FF up there, but I think the steps may be an issue!!

Re: RIP Colin Holley

Very sad news, I met him a couple of times after he did some accident damage to my car. Fascinating to see what he was doing, and what he could do, a true craftsman. Skills and knowledge that I doubt will ever be paralleled, a great loss, RIP

Re: NEC Classic Car Show - 2023

As usual a good weekend, tiring but very enjoyable, the stand once again looked good, the lights making all the difference. Good to meet up with friends far and wide, to have some banter, bully and generally abuse in the best possible way :D .

Jensen in Nottingham area.

Whilst at the NEC the weekend I was approached by a chap asking if anybody in the Nottingham area had an Interceptor that they would be willing to give his father a ride in, for his 60th birthday. Is there anybody our there that could do this, if so PM me, and I'll forward his email. Always a good o...
