Austin A40 Sport for Sale

I have just returned from the BMC & Leyland Show at Gaydon where I saw this Austin A40 Sport (built by Jensen at Carters Green in the 1950s) for sale. It is in poor condition but apears to be fundamentally sound, would make an interesting, Jensen realted, project - https://imgur.com/a/5t9fLw8 Ni...

Gerry Coker

Those interested in Jensen history and particularly the Austin Healey period, might be interested to learn that Gerry Coker, the man who penned the Healey 100, that became the Austin Healey 100, died last Friday aged 99. Gerry left Healey in 1957 to pursue his automotive design career in the States,...

Classic Car Show NEC

I attended the show today. It amazes me that there are always cars to see that youv'e never seen before, a great experience. Before I visited the excellent Jensen stand I came across club member Keith Hudson with his Jensen FF. He had entered the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership competition. I...

Re: 1958 Jensen Tempo - Tempo Matador 1

I have just caught up with this thread. I wish I could be more helpful on the subject of what work Jensen did to the Tembo commercial vehicles other than selling them. What I can tell you is that I made some production drawings for this vehicle when I worked in the Carters Green body drawing office....

H Type being auctioned

I read today that the car collection of the late Fred Guyton is being auctioned by R M Sotherby's in St. Louis Mo., 4 - 5 May. One of the cars in the collection is a rare Jensen H Type tourer - https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r5Ec-icfP2s/XKJcxrwp53I/AAAAAAAAPmo/j-Emdm3jVo4jDT_3J8r5ex5EpLXl09sMwCLcBGAs/s4...

Re: Bill Smith's H Type restoration in progress

Visited the JOC stand at the NEC today. Excellent as always. Particularly liked the "80 years since Jensen appearing at London Motor Show theme, with cars to match. Spoke to Bill Smith about his Jensen H model project and was fascinated by the Richard Jensen wedding connection. The second photo...

Healey/Jensen Connection

Some of you know that for the last couple of years I have been a volunteer with the Warwickshire County Record Office Healey archive project. The WCRO bought a Donald Healey Motor Company archive (there are several spread around the world) from the late Geoff Healey's family in 2016 having been its ...

Here is a link to the Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, event - http://www.friendsofdartmouthpark.org.uk/events.html And here is a photo of the pub that Eric Neale and other Jenesen Motors, Carters Green employees used as their 'watering hole' in the 1950s and early 60s. A friend and me visited last we...

And here are some more photos of cars that were on display at the show -

Does anyone know how much the Scimitar GTE went for. It seemed to be a steal at the estimated price of £K 5 - 7.

Re: Carters Green days, The Phil Grice Interview.

Fantastic photos Paul, thanks for posting. Re the one that has Ray Meanley in, from memory I would identify him as the big man on the right at the back with the striped tie. I would say that this photo was taken between 15 and 20 years before I came across Ray as machine shop foreman at Kelvin Way. ...

RockyUSA's photo of the the Crosley reminded me of the visit my wife and I made, in the noughties, to the mansion formerly owned by Powell Crosley Jr. on the Tamiami Trail north of Sarasota Fl. Here is a piece about Powel Crosley Jr. from the sarasotahistoryalive website - Powell Crosley was a promo...

Re: Toad Hall J-H

A good question re are there any charges made to visit this Museum? Michael. The whole experience was quite bizarre. Because I had done my homework I expected to see the owner at some stage during our visit. As it happened he was walking down the drive towards the dilapidated sheds where the cars ar...
