Re: Unknown C-V8 Mk11 for sale in Germany

Thanks Andi, 2152 was last heard of by me in 2009 when it was for sale in the UK, it has changed a lot since then but the polished radiator header tank and the round sticker behind the rear view mirror are the same 15 years later.

Re: Superb Early Interceptor Article

I need to start the next article on the mechanical and electrical work, or I will end up leaving it for a couple of years as I did with the bodywork article, and I hope we will be finished by then.... The car is at the trimmers and they are saying 5 weeks to complete, but I don't believe them and th...

Re: 133/5698 Questions

Hi Jim The Genome gives more information than the Chassis Data Book and says 5698 may have been rebuilt as a convertible, according to one factory record, however, a different factory record gives a different registration for the car that was converted, so not 5698 but another car. Calver says this ...

Unknown C-V8 Mk11 for sale in Germany

Joerg sent me a link to this advert for a Mk11, Joerg says it was part of the same collection as 2428. But I don't recognize it. https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=381587026&dam=0&isSearchRequest=true&ms=%3B%3B%3BJensen%3B&pageNumber=1&ref=srp&refId=b67f5932-b...

Re: Spare car for Felix

There is an interesting story about James David Burrows, the first owner. In 1940, when he was only 30 years old, but already managing director of the family company, he bought a Spitfire. Not for himself, this was during the Battle of Britain when cities and towns were encouraged to set up Spitfire...

Re: Spare car for Felix

Joerg told me this is 2428, he contacted the seller to find out the chassis number. I would never have recognised the car if Joerg had not told me which one it was. There is a very old discussion on the forum from April 2010 when 2428 came up for sale and it is titled 'C-V8 Mk111 One owner 35 years'...

Re: Rusty CV8 on Bring-A-Trailer (No Reserve)

The auction ended with a winning bid of $12,500, so not far off £10,000 at today's exchange rate. Not a bad price for a C-V8 restoration project and a lot more than the two that were sold last March in the UK that went for around £6200 each, but they had been stored in a field and were rotten, this ...

Re: Name that car

To add to what Stephen says, as our posts have overlapped, it's a Larmar microcar, made between 1948 and 1951 in Ingatestone in Essex by the Larmar Engineering Co. Ltd. It's USP was that it was narrow enough to fit through a standard British garden gate so you could drive it up the garden path and p...

Re: Which chassis number?

123/3859, according to the Genome, assuming only one Interceptor appeared in The Persuaders (this info isn't in The Chassis Data, it is amazing how much Richard Calver was able to add when he produced the Genome).

Re: Early Interceptor at 1951 South Bank Exhibition

I think Stephen is right about the other car, as well as different wheels to an Interceptor it has short bumpers and faired in sidelights and is definitely XK120ish. Here's a photo of the other car with twin boot handles. The tyres may not be white wall, perhaps they are simply catching the light, b...

Re: Early Interceptor at 1951 South Bank Exhibition

If you look closely, notice that there are two locking handles on the boot. I have looked at every photo of an Early Interceptor that I have and there are only two photos of cars that had two locking handles on the boot and they are chassis numbers 5, reg GEA 5, and another car in a publicity shot t...

Re: C-V8 104/2252 For Sale

Andrew Cassar used to do this, buy a restoration project, put it back together as far as he could, give it a clean, called detailing it nowadays, and then try to sell it for treble the buying price. But that is how dealers make money and the original seller could have done the same thing but wanted ...

Re: C-V8 104/2252 For Sale

It is an unfinished restoration and if you look closely at the interior shot you can see that the sheet metal forming the heel board part of the toe box isn't actually there, so you are looking in to the triangular box section, it would be difficult to finish the metalwork in this area with pedals i...

C-V8 104/2252 For Sale

104/2252 has been undergoing a long restoration, but sadly the owner has passed away without finishing the work. The car is for sale. Photos are attached and I have been given the following information. The car appears to be complete Floors and cills have been replaced. An A833 manual conversion has...
