Re: Labour Hours need for a N&B restoration of an Interceptor?

Don't forget VAT. Most specialist restorers will quote an hourly rate, and £40 an hour could be at the low end of a range of rates you will be given, and then add VAT to the bill when you get it, after all it's not the specialist that is charging VAT it's HM Revenue and Customs. VAT adds 20% to the ...

Re: Was Clarkson the Top Gear Nostradamus in 2009?

I'm going to criticise my own post. It was a piece of burst tyre that hit the wing, and the tyre burst because it hit the small piece of metal, and it was pieces of burst tyre that had punctured the fuel tanks many times before.

Biggest plane in the world? Antonov AN-225 built 32 years ago.

Re: Was Clarkson the Top Gear Nostradamus in 2009?

A passenger jet shouldn't be brought down by a small piece of metal of hitting the underside of a wing, but Concorde engineers knew this could happen if the small piece of metal hit the underside of a wing below a full fuel tank, because the shock wave from impact would travel through the fuel and w...

Re: Princess Grey

Felix, if the colour swatch at the bottom of the formula is the colour the formula makes then you have been given the formula for the body colour and not the roof colour, but it's obviously the roof colour that you need. Interestingly the code you had already starts with 00A05 then three digits, BS ...

Re: Princess Grey

Hi Felix I do know of a restoration company in Holland that has painted a two-tone C-V8 with Princess Grey as the roof colour, that company was able to match Princess Grey and I was promised details of the paint formula, but though I sent two email reminders to them they didn't give me the formula, ...

Straight 6 C-V8

Another car I am trying to identify for John Lane appears in a written advert so there is no photo, but it is intriguing. "JENSEN CV8 SPECIAL. Straight 6 -cylinder. Manual. Economical, just been renovated now excellent condition. Only known model!". There is a Romford telephone number and t...

Unknown C-V8 at Windsor

It seems everyone is at it and John Lane is in the process of bringing his records up to date and as part of that would like to identify some C-V8s in photos. Most of the photos I can help with but not this one, a light grey Mk11 with Interceptor wheels photographed at Windsor, presumably during the...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

I believe Norman had given up any idea of registering the replica with DVLA as FF 063, there isn't enough evidence to prove that it is, I have a copy of Ulric's letter, but it is addressed to George Zdanko, not DVLA, and by itself it does little more than confirm Uric's belief that the chassis of th...

Re: Classic cars on the road

Probably 104/2254. 2254 is a car not seen since 2013, but the last UK owner told me it was sold to man who was going to ship it to New Zealand. The old photos I have of 2254 match the car in the photo, except for the wheels but they are often changed.

Re: Rusting A90 (541) wheel on ebay around £30

Hi Mike I have now found some more information, in fact I have found the reference to reinforced wheels which comes in the service file for 104/2029, though not until 1966. The owner of 2029 in 1966, Mr Wildi, complained to JML that one of his road wheels had broken up, while he was driving the car....

Re: Interceptor/C-V8 jack??

Did you know there is a whole website dedicated to British car jacks? http://www.classic-british-car-jacks.uk/ I have looked at the site before when people have asked me about the correct jack for a C-V8. There is no definitive list of dating features on the site but the impression I get is that a j...

Re: Spring Break Latest Information

According to the hotel website rates are per night, so a double room at £209 per night is £104.50 per person per night https://www.athollpalace.com/ You can actually book a room for less than that if you go for the Advanced Purchase price, but you pay now and the cost is not refundable if you cancel...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

The circular hole in the bulkhead is there in FF 189, see the photos in Montpelliers thread about the restoration here https://joc.org.uk/joc-forum/?w3=aW5kZXgucGhw I don't know if the longer slot is also there as it is hidden in the photo. Below is a photo of an FF upside down, if by rearmost centr...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

There is no hole on the left side on the replica, not that anyone has ever suggested that there are any Interceptor body parts in the replica, also on a C-V8 the front bulkhead ends just above the hood or cowl over the hole for the steering column, but in the replica there is a lot more metal above ...
