Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

The circular hole in the bulkhead is there in FF 189, see the photos in Montpelliers thread about the restoration here https://joc.org.uk/joc-forum/?w3=aW5kZXgucGhw I don't know if the longer slot is also there as it is hidden in the photo. Below is a photo of an FF upside down, if by rearmost centr...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

There is no hole on the left side on the replica, not that anyone has ever suggested that there are any Interceptor body parts in the replica, also on a C-V8 the front bulkhead ends just above the hood or cowl over the hole for the steering column, but in the replica there is a lot more metal above ...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

Yes Here's a shot of a Mk111 C-V8 handbrake, not the clearest photo but that's the top of the handbrake rising above the exhaust pipe (from Jon Larkin's photo record of his restoration, people like Jon, and Adrian - AdeTCV8 on the forum - who make their photo records available do a great favour to e...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

There are no clear photos of the rear brakes, but they are partly visible in a couple of photos and the one at top is probably the best. If they were Dunlop brakes, like a C-V8, the name Dunlop would be cast on the body of the brake cylinder and on the replica's brakes it isn't. There is also a shot...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

I'm still worrying away at this when I have a moment, which is quite often these days, and prompted by some private correspondence I went hunting on the forum for photos of the underside of an FF, having found some photos I can see that though the rear of the replica looks very C-V8 it is actually F...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

Here's another photo that shows the back end of the car and it shows C-V8 chassis tubes from the rear bulkhead back. I had a long telephone conversation with Ron Clay this morning, almost all about C-V8s but I did ask some questions about the replica, and Ron told me the rear bulkhead is all C-V8 bu...

Re: Interceptors in garages

Also glad to see the CV8 has boxes etc stored on top of it. It seems when the cars get into this state of long term storage, they seem to attract various house hold items. Actually the boxes were car parts and a brand new spray gun, the previous owner had plans to finish a restoration, he had alrea...

Re: Interceptors in garages

I'll see your Interceptors and raise you a C-V8. This is one of the 7 manual Mk11s made and it has been in a garage 9 miles from me for 25 years. 20201030_153539.jpg It isn't for sale, it has just been bought and the new owner has applied to join the JOC so should soon find the forum and tell us mor...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

The slot and the circular hole below it are standard C-V8, here's a photo. DSC_0943.JPG Here's another photo you may like, a C-V8 rear end from front bulkhead back which supports your very good observation about the holes for the old C-V8 chassis tubes being blanked off, you can also see the more or...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

I have to back track completely on the information I gave below about the C-V8 donor car, though the person who gave me the information is usually very reliable. I found some photos of the C-V8 FF project from 2011 in JOC magazine 219, they show the project loaded on to George Zdanko's trailer on th...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

Per

Maybe, who knows? You would need to gather all of the world's FF experts around the replica chassis and let them argue about it, then you might get an answer to the question of what it is.

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

As we have discussed earlier in this thread the seller has said that the chassis is from FF 063, Ron Clay, who built the replica, says that it isn't, I'm sorry but I don't think I can add to the discussion. The replica isn't registered with the DVLA and there are no old registration documents with i...
